  3. I live in ranch country. You are mostly incorrect. For MOST OF THE YEAR cattle graze on grass which, last I noted, grew quite naturally in areas such as where I live, which of limited agricultural fertility with relatively small amounts of rainfall, but grows incredibly good grasslands. For a FEW WEEKS before slaughter they are fattened up with hay and grain. So, no, this is NOT inefficient.

No. You're discussing a particular manifestation of intelligence. What I am saying is that I know many extremely intelligent people who don't give a rip about what your definition of a manifestation of intelligence is. You clearly have contempt for people who do not think, nor manifest intelligence, like you do.

You know, so-called smart people are awfully stupid. And I'm speaking as someone who has 5 college degrees in math and computer science (with one in English) at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Have you ever TALKED to people who are (say) roofers? A lot of them are pretty damned smart just have no desire to spend their days in a cubicle. While it doesn't take Einstein to do a roof, it does take skills that perhaps even Einstein didn't have. Your prejudices that such people are somehow less than human - yourself being the ultimate description of humanity - is quite obvious.

You are an idiot. The US is a nation that was born with the idea that rationality matters and that enlightened self interest matters. The US did sell weapons to our allies during WWII - and GAVE a lot more to them. If the US is so terrible why is American technology running an awful lot of the world? Yes, other nations compete, quite vigorously. But your anti USA bravo sierra is just garbage. Trade deals are NOT skewed in favor of the US, they are skewed in favor of US corporations who, last I noted, employed more people OUTSIDE the US than INSIDE the US.

  22. Here is an example of what goes wrong with bus and rail service in US cities. All bus and rail service is city-center centric -- so if you live in one suburb and work in another, you must travel to the center of the city , change (trains, say) and go out to another suburb. However, in terms of office parks they TEND to be built on the ring roads around the cities. But no one discusses running rail service on the ring road with a few 'spokes' going downtown. In other words, the planning for the tracks isn't necessarily where people live and work. (And I don't see the point of light rail as once you've put in tracks you can't change them whilst you can change a bus route by altering a bus schedule)
