Yes, but the American left seems just to be filled with elitist hypocrites. I'm not talking about some genuine individuals who are left-leaning, but even a lot of them seem to be elitists to the marrow of their bones. But the establishment of the Democrats is, if anything, even MORE elitist than those of the Republican establishment. I suppose if you're morally and intellectually bankrupt you've got to create artificial divides between people?

Don't worry, the left is now calling it Romneycare because it's becoming obvious it is a total failure and they don't want their side to be held responsible. I lived in the "North Korea of North America," Massachusetts, during its implementation and could have told anyone what a disaster it would be. And as for Romney -- anyone who moves from Massachusetts to California must be pretty left wing!

I can confirm the $50 aspirin - not because I've been in hospital but because I worked for a company that did healthcare IT. The cost accounting is done by taking (essentially) all of the costs of a hospital and allocating them to various "Service Items" by a weighted algorithm. Of course, I've never seen such a bill however I do know in the early 1990s my wife was hospitalized and we had a 'surcharge' on the bill that was ~150% of the bill - it was the 'uninsured patients surcharge.' But that was a long time ago. I like your state's self pay regs.

Not in the slightest. I didn't troll by saying (essentially) "spare me." But the fact that we're working on finding out solutions and figuring out what will work shows our strength, not our weakness.

And if you self pay because you don't have coverage - because you can't afford (say) 1200 per month for premiums despite the so-called Affordable Care Act and pay the tax penalty - you pay $50 per aspirin. Unfortunately, I cannot agree with you. My observation is that most people have no interest in contributing money to society - they do anything they can get to get on the dole, whether it is ordinary people cheating on their taxes, getting government benefits when they don't deserve them (fake disability, etc.) or being a huge corporation structuring to avoid paying millions in taxes. It's tragic.

And your point is what? Not everyone can afford 40K/year for "The College Experience." Not everyone feels that tying yourself down with 80K in student loans before you're 25. As for tenured professors, you do realize that most universities are not hiring tenure track positions, right? They're relying almost completely on adjuncts. And what's the political orientation of universities? (Hint, it isn't Republican or Libertarian). So - GASP - these bastions of left wingedness are exploiting professors now! Administrators. Well, any organization needs some degree of administration, but if it is a school without walls, then, yes, it'll need less of it. As for sports and clubs, well, heck, if I went to a college for sports and clubs rather than education, see my 40K/year statement above. What you're saying is that the current unsustainable tuition/boarding costs just need to keep rising. You must be a left wing limo liberal elitist.
