  1. Gold isn't inherently deflationary. We'll keep discovering new gold, which makes it kind of unpredictably inflationary. For examples of what that can do to the world, just picture what happened to the Old World after the New World's gold was discovered. When we start mining asteroids, things will change again. That's why Bitcoin's set deflationary-ness is so novel and valuable - even if we haven't solved the problem of transmitting between nodes at interstellar distances... yet.
