Graveyard of the Fireflies is the masterpiece of Hideo Takahata, Miyazaki's right hand. It's a really good movie, it was at 11 (I've got more than 10 movies for the top 10), and tonari no totoro at 12 and chihiro at 13:)
Number one should always be Studio Ghibli movies, they make really good quality movies. My top 10 should be something like this.
1- Mimi o Sumaseba (Studio Ghibli) 2- Akira 3- Lupin III - Die Nostradamus Die! 4- Patlabor 2 - The movie 5- Tenchi Muyo! In love 6- Ghost in the Shell 7- Tenshii no shiro no Laputa (Studio Ghibli) 8- Otaku no Video (Gainax) 9- Mononoke Hime (Studio Ghibli) 10- Jin-Roh
This service was called Ibertex. Required a 300bps modem to enter (lately 2400 were accepted woohooo) and I think it is still working (dial 031 anyone?)
AFS is really a plus when you have to connect multiple platforms, but I find that it have too many features from the big mainframes of the past, and the development right now is stabilised only on doing a "workable" version of it for every platform and not trying to improve it, as far as I have seen. BTW, IBM have really a problem distributing their AFS sources, it's not really clear and the lack of online forums or mailing list support is really disturbing, I felt kind of alone in the jungle:)
Unless you're accesing a file when the server fails. NFS handles well server disconnection when no files are open or in use, unfortunately, that does not cover high performance systems that rely on NFS (kind of ironic indeed)
I've succeeded in NFS doing all of this except on the synched disconnection, NFS is a pain in the ass when you lose the backend when accessing a file, the problem indeed is that every single distributed filesystem fails on that ocasion (even AFS and DRBD on my tests). It would be really nice to have a filesystem that could have a total failure recovery when a secondary backend server is available, indeed:)
Yes the European directive is in place but it still have to be adopted by most European countries. I only hope that it won't finish as the draconian Spanish implementation called LSSI, that even makes weblogs ilegal if their piss off the government.
Yes I did, but since the domain is not owned by the DSL company they told me to fuck myself or move the domain to their servers. This is really a way of treating customers... eeek:(
And what happens if your local provider doesn't allow you to send e-mails using a different domain name? I have my own domain and I usually send my e-mails using that, but I can't use my DSL providers SMTP since the domain is not on their list of allowed domains. So there:)
Usually taxes are lower than in the rest of Europe. Right now I'm falling onto the 20% bracket. That means that your friends gets paid a US salary here. He'll live in luxury, yaaaay:)
Copy protected CDs from Universal Music will only play on BSD and Mac OS computers... Seems unfair? That's what most CD companies are forcing us right about now...
Only for your information. The US entered WWII in Europe because there were Germany plans to invade the US that were discovered by the UK, you can inform yourself about that in any history and cryptography site. The US entered in war with Japan because they were threatening the Phillipines, the attack on Pearl Harbor was known several weeks before it happened, but the US high rank office decided not to inform Pearl Harbor's responsible about that attack so they could enter the war for "protectional" reasons, you can inform yourself about that on Internet also.
I always thought that going against the Iraq's invasion could lead Europe to this, but I didn't expect it that early!
Forgot all the darkwave side of electronic music

Electronic Music 101?
·
· Score: 1
Excellent post, but you forgot all the side that fits onto Darkwave music (yeah, Darkwave is not only electronic but there's a lot of electronic styles there). Main ones are: ElectroPop: Electronic style coming from the 80's, main exponents of this style are Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, AHA, New Order, Soft Cell, etc... EBM: Electronic style with lots of influences from other styles, I've heard here influences from house, progressive and other styles. Maximum exponents are Front 242, Wolfsheim, And One, etc... Industrial: Electronic style based on harder rhytms, here fits some Drum and Bass (like Aphex Twin) and Noise. Main artists here are Aphex Twin,:Wumpscut:, Esplendor Geométrico, etc... FuturePop: New style coming out lately for defining the music of some groups that stands between lots of electronic influences (from EBM, to progressive and Industrial itself). Main artists on this cathegory are Apoptygma Berzerk, VNV Nation, Covenant, etc... Just my U$0,02:). Hope it helps
Telefonica sold the company but there are documents proving that the Telefonica haven't received yet all the money they sold the company for, so the company still can be from Telefonica if they reclaim, also take in care that in Spain you cannot fire people without paying all the pendent wages.
Also in this there is the government implied since they sold the company as return to the money the Miami mafia put into the election of our actual president, so I think there are enough reasons to make this a civil problem, don't you think?
I only can say something more about Sailor Moon live.
In Zaragoza (Spain) there was on the theatre a live interpretation of Sailor Moon, driven by guys.
I only can say one word about it: "SCARY"

They'll have a hard time looking for someone as autist as Shiji is...
Someone that can't recognize ceilings!!!
Maybe Leo Di Caprio can do it *evil grin*

IBM deployed a new distributed filesystem that goes beyond AFS, it's called GPFS and it's part of the xCAT package. You can find it here.
Unfortunately, documentation is really poor at this moment... but I think it could be a really good solution.

NFS would be a good answer for a distributed filesystem if it implemented some kind of solution for server failures like.
:)
- Synched disconnection
- Secondary NFS replica
- Transparent failover
I've succeeded in NFS doing all of this except on the synched disconnection, NFS is a pain in the ass when you lose the backend when accessing a file, the problem indeed is that every single distributed filesystem fails on that ocasion (even AFS and DRBD on my tests).

Then they should really have a bad day also with Apu!
80 pages? More than enough!!!
If it took them 2 hours to write them down, they should last 2 hours (Fry dixit)
All this post-9/11 paranoia is getting really ridiculous, and I can't wait till someone in power finally realizes how stupid we are being.
I think that someone was called United Nations Security Council
They had to do that since only CowboyNeal was subcribed to it... aaah and Alan Cox since they promised him a column in Welsh

Take my word, don't come to Spain
I'm thinking about moving to Germany or something like that to get a good pay
Or I was the only one to read:
Apple: A better finger?
Oh man... April's fool got me paranoic
