We only use it internally. We get high speeds over the campus network, and there is a limited number of users. We set the TTL low. I haven't noticed any slowdowns because of it, and it's so fast that you even if there were a lot of queries flying around, they'd finish quickly. I've been d/ling movies at 700 k/sec that someone else spent 3 days trying to get at 2.3k/sec. That's why it's good.
..it can't scale. Anyone taking a computer science class should've realized that...
On my campus, we've been using Limewire to make a private Gnutella network. We use it to trade files with each other. That way we're not all trying to get the same files from the internet. It's much faster. People at other colleges should try it.
... not a chance for CT to bad-mouth whatever the heck he feels like. I think they look fine. The older designs may have been cooler, but who are you to say that they "look like barf." I was really hoping for a Spaceballs reference.
It's too buggy for me right now. It crashed while I was manipulating bookmarks, twice! I'll wait for a better release. Anyone know how to UN-install it? Netscape sure doesn't say how...
I'm a student on our Information Services Advisory Comittee, and this came up at a recent meeting. It seems out bandwith use for Napster was up around 25%, way too high. We put out a plea to the students to cut it down. Amazingly, for the next week, Napster bandwidth use has hovered around 9%. It's still a lot, but as long as it stays low, we're not going to do anything about it. Out school policy is to only do something if an outside organization approaches us with proof that a student has illegal material on his computer, so for us, it really is a bandwidth issue.
They had this rumored on Coming Attractions a few days ago. The article on Aint it cool just sounds like another rumor. There's no confirmation of any kind. Sam Rami is one of TWO directors that is has been narrowed down to, but he's already directing another movie!! Yah, maybe if they split they'll have to fire some Marketing execs and a bunch of upper management. With them out of the way, I'm sure even MS can make decent software. It's not like the programmers want to make buggy stuff. --Adam

Well, if you go to www.linux.org, you could have a tag. It'd probably be pretty popular, actually. Sick, isn't it?

They forgot to include "Is bullied mercilessly by others."
Why not just slap another processor on the motherboard and call it a "GPU" instead?

I'm gonna wear my trenchcoat again, and whenever anyone asks me about it, I'll tell them about what's happening to all my friends.
