    Rethinking the process goes much deeper. If your databases are designed by end users, they usually know what kinds of data they have. They may not know how to properly organize that data nor how the data is related to the data in the other users databases.

    This can be a great opportunity for IT to really make a difference.

    We already know that relativity is wrong (in the same sense that classical mechanics is wrong).

    I think I read that General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics have self-consistant but mutally exclusive explanations for gravity. At least one theory must be wrong.

    I guess there can be only one.

    As the probes travel farther and farther from the Sun, the masses of the planets, moons and asteroids move behind rather than in front of the probes. Of course, this has probably been considered, but I haven't seen it mentioned.

    My name is Waldo and I live at #2 Microsoft Way, Redmond WA. I own a small scrap yard across the street (Waldo's Recycling). Business used to be pretty good. We were recycling hundreds of old computers a day for years. Lately, these Linux guys have been taking all the old computers and building Beowulf clusters. This has really hurt my business. As I understand it, you guys started this whole Beowulf thing. Since you guys don't need this Galileo thing anymore, please drop it in the yard for me. It would really help make up for the lost business.

    MySQL isn't a Linux distribution, it's a database management system that runs on Linux.

    Why do creationists think evolution and God are incompatible ? In creating the universe, God was just more subtle than he is portrayed in the Bible. Creationism trivializes God's creation of the universe to little more than a puppet show.

    dnetc v2.8003-448-CTR-99121202 client for Linux (Linux 2.2.13). Running on SuSE 6.3 with a re-compiled but stock 2.2.13 kernel, no problems here.

    I agree. Maybe, what we should do is take two bucks from everybodys income tax and divvy it up between the candidates. That's it, no personal money, no soft money, no gifts, no other money, period. Let them fight it out on the issues.

    Wow, RedHat must haved changed a lot since I last tried it.
    Under RH 5.2, I was always able to edit any config file. This was a good thing because, at the time, my video card wasn't supported under X.

    If you have a quantity of matter that occupies a given volume of space, and you convert that matter to energy, does the curvature of that volume of space actually change ? Is there any evidence for this ?

    Okay, most of this is crap, but he does touch on one question for which I have never heard an answer. If matter exhibits gravity and warps space a little, what happens to that gravity when matter is converted to energy ?
