either that or it comes from alumina Al2O3, but no aluminum.

  2. Yeah right on Aluminum Server Case Review · · Score: 2, Insightful

It's aluminium, check out any periodic table. Aluminum is just another example of American bastardisation of the english language, much like the use of center/centre (meter/metre), *ise/*ize.

  3. Just do it the preferred way. on Parallel Port I/O Access Under Win2K? · · Score: 1

If you use the CreateFile API with the path "\\\\.\\LPT1" you can use ReadFile and WriteFile on the port. No need to make it harder than it really is.

  4. Oh Grow up! on MSDN Subscriber Forced to use Passport · · Score: 1

A default Passport profile has your name and logon name in it and nothing else! Hardly an invasion of privacy. You don't even need to put your REAL name in there. Any other info you put in is your choice. When Hailstorm rolls out, you will have Access Control Lists on your information that default to deny everyone, so any info that Passport spits out you had to give it permission to do so first, so any leaks of your private info are your ineptitude. Just try getting a credit card or a video club membership with that sort of control over your information. Ha!

God, you guys have short memories! MS's problem was a misconfigured Cisco router. Admittedly if they had outside DNS servers this wouldn't have been a problem. At no point was Windows responsible for the debacle. They outsourced the outside DNS management to Akamai who happen to use BSD. Hardly a case of running to BSD when Windows failed. Yes, Microsoft was to blame for bad network management, but don't propagate shit because you feel it serves your purpose better. Damn Unix weenies!!!

  6. About time on Linux Grabs World Record For TPC-H Benchmark · · Score: 2

About time you Linux weenies put your money where you're mouth is and submitted a result. However, note that cluster has 16 700MHz Xeons, whereas the Compaq Proliant entry below it has only 8. Look at the cost per transaction. More than twice as much.... Gee I thought you guys kept saying Linux has a lower TCO... And also note that when you compare the Windows2000 results the scalability is almost exactly linear. Number of CPUs and their speeds is linearly proportional to performance. This is also reflected in the price per transaction. But don't you guys keep saying Windows2000 doesn't scale... Looks like you're full of something.

  7. Bunch of losers! on Bonobo 1.0 released · · Score: 1

Look at the specs for OLE/COM and Bonobo. They're identical. Miguel de Icaza even admitted in an interview, that he had never heard of component programming till he was interviewed for a job at Microsoft in the IE development team. He didn't get it but thought how cool this component programming thing was. And then proceeded to rip it off interface for interface. Yet when MS wanted help porting COM to Unix back in 94/95 no-one bothered to help (well ok software AG did, but not the community at large). You guys make me sick! You are so blinded by both rage at Microsoft for your ineptness to understand anything more complicated then printf, and the industry's corruption which puts dodgy hardware in circulation. Must be Windows' fault..... You all have transferred your socialist leanings to the computer world, because socialism is considered uncool after the wall came down.
