Now wait a minute here. Three of the actors in this film - Liam Neeson (Schindlers List), Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting) and Natalie Portman (Leon) are three VERY fine actors. Those three films are highly regarded, an part because of those actors skills.
In the Phlegmpton Menace, they were simply wasted. Don't blame the actors on making such a pile of dross. Place blame where it squarely lies, on Lucas' doorstep.
BTW - I still think the robotic soldiers wre pretty good though.

Crime wouldn't vanish under total observation. It only moves crime higher up in the political/social spheres where punishment rarely follows criminal actions.
