I have to disagree, RH 8.0 has almost all the functionality I want in a pc these days. My only complaint is all the open source dvd players seem to be coming along very slowly or are just to technical for moi to install. If they get more of my favorite games going on this platform, my windows cd is going in the trash permantly. This coming from someone who makes his living working on windows boxes.
If nothing else, Linux creates competition for Microsoft and should force them to lower prices in the long run. Either way, I see it as a win for the user.
I agree with the IBM keyboard assessment. Mine has lasted years and in a pinch, I am sure I could brain a burglar with it and it would still work. As for IBM Thinkpads, My friend and I agree on this one - we've nic named them junkpads.
I have a spare hard drive and tray. I swap between xp and w2k all the time. I haven't seen a problem with xp, but then it doesn't mean there isn't one. The only item I can add is that explorer 6 is one buggy browser. This is on a pii 800 running 512 meg. My advice, keep w2k on your system for the serious stuff. Run xp for the games and stuff you can afford to live without.

As an infantryman in Desert Storm, I believe that America's armed forces can wage and win a war in Southwest Asia. As for technology taking the place of discipline, endurance, and field savy the answer is a sound NO. These atributes are the result of training. Luckily, the adage at least when I was in, was train like you fight and fight like you train. That adage served us well in Desert Storm and continues to serve to this day.
I got the same result from the mirror as well - redirection..??
