I have been using the ac-series until prepatch 18 and experienced problems with the 8139too modules.
Nice that these problems seem to be away now with 2.4.6.
Also I noticed the presence of an option for the MIDI-part of my via82cxx onboard-soundcard. Havent't tried it yet though...
On my desktop Linux is _very_ alive!
I'm doing all the tasks I used to do on windows, writing letters with kword, managing email with kmail and doing a daily upgrade with apt.
If I wanna check out a new app I just do a simple apt-get.
Hell this saves time! I don't have to run to the store and buy a package that would usually flush my system down the toilet.
And of course I don't have to pay for each package (but I would definitely pay a monthly fee for it!).
Thanks to Loki I also can play many high quality games!
And who said Konqueror isn't as usable as the IE ?!
The guy at Linuxplanet really didn't get the point he should start using his propriearity clean and smoothly easy Windows NOW!!! But please stop talking about tings he doesn't really know about.
What does the filename "dvwssr.dll" stand for? (acronym)
"The company is also asking customers to delete the computer file called "dvwssr.dll", which contains the offending code. It is installed on Microsoft's Internet-server software with FrontPage 98 extensions."

Direct3D on Linux?

A different implementation of the win32 API, we all know that.
But games on WINE just _feel_ like being emulated and as long as the WINE API isn't 100% compatible with win32 things will be unstable running on it.
Companies like Loki should concentrate on new games.
If they ask to much money for the port -> transgaming.
I think a REAL gamer wants to play native ports rather than wobbly WINE emulations.
Although older games should run fine in WINE cause the hardware requirements are often lower.
I don't wanna start another Torvalds/Tannenbaum-Debate.
But at this moment I'm asking myself if there could be any advantages for BSD as a server OS in comparison to a debian linux-system
Since I run a small router/firewall to connect my LAN to the Internet and provide ssh-accounts for my tech-friends I'd really like to know if there is possibly better security at kernel-level in BSD than in Linux.
Folx, don't leave me hanging here cause my people try to abuse their shell-accounts for fun;-) For example allocate they allocate high amounts of memory through a C-prog causing the router to get so slow that my only possibilty is to hit the reset button to gain back control...
The right filename is Mandrake80-inst.iso.
You can check the integrity od the image by getting the md5sums file and testing with the "md5sum -c md5sums" command.
The filenames you mentioned are release candidates i.e. not the final release.
I wonder when SUN will sue you for it ... ;-)

Patented in the USA maybe, but not in Urop.

_Homepage URL_ on T-Shirt would be better. ... D'oh!
I think nowadays everybody has a hompepage.
Wait
Good point... ;-)
Maybe I'm just too lazy to RTFM
