"No, he hires people to hire people to design spacecraft."
FYI the space shuttle was designed in the 70's. Are you seriously going to try to pin that on Bush?
Look, I think he's a jackass too, but blaming him for everything from hurricanes and earthquakes to that time you stubbed your toe in 6th grade just makes you look like a bigger jackass.
This is a pointless article only if you assume that "anyone" is spending the same time and effort looking for flaws as the hackers, let alone fixing them.
Are you that confident that such efforts are taking place?
So who gets to decide what is legitimate, protected opposition speech and what is considered "hate"? I don't feel particularly comfortable putting that kind of power in anyone's hands, let alone a government's.
I suppose this was inevitable. Of course, there are more federal agencies whose job it is to dole out your tax dollars than there are keeping you safe from those dag-blasted ter'rists.
I suspect those non-military, non-law-enforcement agencies are the biggest offenders of lax network security.
So because such an analysys, no matter how objective or thorough, might tend to favor Microsoft, you'd rather not take those factors into consideration?
Does that mean when a musician's copyrighted work is placed on the internet by someone else without permission, the musician is extending to you the right to listen to it?
I think it's a good question on the part of the submitter. Why should students be upset about their IP rights when many/most of them aren't at all concerned about the IP rights of their favorite bands? And yes, it is hypocritical.
People violating copyrights and other applicable licenses in the name of sticking it to The Man is good. The Man violating copyright and other applicable licenses in the name of sticking it to the people is bad.
Was your rant about fuel efficiency or emissions? The two are not the same. In case you weren't aware, all vehicles, be they SUVs or compacts, produce pollution.
Chances are you're polluting your own space as much as anyone else is. Get off your soapbox.
Also, I'd be willing to bet that a Prius and a Harley get similar gas mileage. My 750cc Kawasaki gets 50mpg.
If I were you, I wouldn't trust polls from leftwing nutbag websites as gospel. "Progressive, Tough Liberal News and Opinions"? What could possible be more objective?
Wikipedia, especially on sensitive or politically-charged events, is nothing more than consensus-driven reality. In other words, I wouldn't cite them as an objective, verifyable source of factual information.

I'm pretty sure the president doesn't design spacecraft or control the flow of time.
I've heard a lot of good ones here, but "The Space Shuttle's inherant design flaws and age are Bush's fault" is a new one. Kudos on finding a new low.
Yep. All those Slashdot readers who were inclined to buy an XBox will suddenly realize that Microsoft doesn't always operate above the bar.
Welcome to Slashdot, Captain Obvious.
The problem is the dumbass user then, not IE. And dumbass users aren't news anywhere anymore, let alone on Slashdot.

"Try makeing any untoward comments about your almighty presedent, and how to depose him (violently or otherwise)"
Yeah, you'll NEVER see anything of the sort here!

Microsoft keeps users because (among many reasons) their software's interface is consistent and familiar. I can't imagine they break that with Vista.
I really hope you aren't suggesting that the differences between Vista vs. XP are similar to Vista vs. Linux.
So because such an analysys, no matter how objective or thorough, might tend to favor Microsoft, you'd rather not take those factors into consideration?
I think an interesting analysis would be a comparison between the cost of upgrading to Vista and switching the entire office to Linux.
What would be the cost of:
- replacing/training desktop support?
- training the rest of the workforce?
- lost productivity due to the above?
I live about 30 minutes from the latest shooting site in Lancaster, PA.
I can assure you, modders of the parent, that it was anything but "funny".
See you in metamod purgatory.
I find it incredibly ironic when so-called "venture CAPITALISTS" ask for government handouts.
We are all entitled to our rights. That doesn't mean that many people here aren't hypocrites.

How exactly do I benefit society when I dowload the latest "Priates of the Caribbean"? (no pun intended)
Activism is one thing. That is not activism.
"I'm a firm believer that most people act in the best intrests of others. I think this is something that geeks hold especially true"
Ahh, so that explains why so many geeks download copyrighted music, movies, and software they haven't paid for.
Yes, it's offtopic, but I thought your analysis was most interesting.

With so much "conclusive" evidence, one would think a lawsuit would have been filed by now.
Piss or get off the pot already. If you have evidence, call the ACLU. Stoking conspiracy theories on the Intarweb just wastes all of our time.
"The simple fact is that more than half the population feels the election was stolen"
While you're pointing out the finer points of logical deduction, how about something to back up that particular gem?
