  1. I got a gesture for you..... on KDE Gesture Control · · Score: 1

After using the gestures in Black & White, I can truly say that they moderately suck, at best. With a mouse they aren't too awful bad, but for a trackball they are a nightmare. Plus, there is nothing more frustrating than repeatedly making the wrong gesture, with one that is similar to make. I have enough problems clicking on icons on the desktop with my trackball......I won't stand a chance with gestures.

While it is a sad commentary on life, the fact still remains that this is our society. Video games in general(at least for males) are all about competition. Video games are no different than sports in this aspect. So it is natural for your testosterone to rise while playing a video game. The gaming industry knows this all too well, and you better believe they will exploit it for thier own profit. SEX SELLS. Is this news? I actually find it easier to accept sex selling video games, rather than sex selling soft drinks. Welcome to America! Where up is down and down is up ;)

  3. Virus on Sony and AOL vs Microsoft · · Score: 1

I see one glaring problem with having a console system actually hooking up to the web-----If you get a virus downloaded onto the console system, you could end up frying the whole thing. At least with computers you have work arounds and can pull out individual parts. I just hope that they seriously look into this. I for one would NOT like to dish out $450 just to watch it meltdown.

Ok here is the kicker.....the truck in question was purchased in california, which has uber emission controls. From day one this truck belched out noxious fumes (it is most concentrated at start up). I would frequently have it indoors to load/unload, and immeadiatly would shut it off. Well, not just because of the exhaust, but because the truck is also quite loud. I have personally driven just about every F-350 model since 1995, and it is ironic that the one that gives off the most fumes is the only one we purchased from california......kinda puts that whole energy crisis togather.

  6. Re:Hempcar on Zero to Rutabaga in 6 Seconds · · Score: 1

As one who drives a F-350 dually diesel, I can attest to the AWFUL stench that the existing petroleum based diesel gives off. I would glady take the smell of french fries over the "noxious black smoke of death" that emits from the tailpipe. I can't believe this stuff works in an existing unmodified diesel engine. Even more amazing is that this has been around since 1895! I gotta tip my hat to Dr. Rudolf Diesel.

  7. A palm is a palm is a palm..... on Simple Inexpensive Mobile Computer: The Simputer · · Score: 1

You can give it a fluffy name and run it on linux instead of the palmOS, but this is none the less just a minor variation on the handhelds we already have on the market. I really think that $200 isn't a bad price for this handheld, but there isn't enough innovation here to justify switching from a solid OS with TONS of software. I guess I am just waiting for the day when laptops and handhelds merge once and for all. However, a little bigger of a monochrome screen, smart card, and 32 mb of ram is hardly what I consider a true merger between the two. I just hope that these people in third world countries use the rechargeable batteries. I prolly could feed Sally Struthers for a week, with the amount of $$ I have spent on AAA's! Ok....maybe a day or two... ;)

  8. Too much $$$ on Sony Clie Officially For Sale (In English) · · Score: 1

I have had my handspring visor deluxe since it first came out. I decided to go for the visor over the palm III, because 1) It cost less and had more memory 2) It had all the springboard possibilities (still waiting on that 6 in 1 modem/voice recorder/alarm/memory/etc. from Innogear, but why split hairs). I just can't see the justification for dishing out the $500 for a color screen. I suppose that the "future" 128 mb memory stick would be nice, but as of right now the only use i would have for a color screen is to play games. Until they are able to provide real video or perhaps television *hint*hint* to the new color pda's, then I will just plug along with my monocrome visor for another year or two when the price goes down to a reasonable level.

  9. Seems a little too much... on Multi-Million Dollar LAN Event In Germany · · Score: 3

While I truly do enjoy the large scale thinking, it may be a little overkill. For tournaments at our lan party, we run our first rounds on the BYOC computers. For the final rounds, games are played on a 10 identical pc's in a room seperate from from the BYOC area. So if someone is cheating on thier own computer, then they will be found out for the fraud they really are in the end. This isn't a perfect solution, but reality/cost dictates that for most lan parties this is a good way to keep everything as fair as possible.
