  1. Re:For backup purposes.... on CD-R Prices Could Triple This Summer · · Score: 1

Discs play in almost all drives that are in use today. If you're using some ancient POS from 1993 then I suppose I can understand why it wouldn't read. (Lack of multiread capability). But to me, the most important thing when running backups is that they're readable from the drive which made them, which they do. The discs are relatively cheap, and the system (CD-RW Drive, Backup Software such as NTI) and media make it much more feasible for the average user.

I wouldn't worry about it. A patent claim this absurd and grand in scale will just be thrown out of court like all the other ones. (Remember the clown who claimed a patent on multimedia?)

What they need to work on now, is a good PC - PC IM program possibly supporting voice chat, which *doesn't* broadcast/advertise your contact number to the world on their white pages. They need to work on removing a lot of bloat (ICQ, which routinely sucks back 20+ megs of my system resources), adding more features to those which are small (MSN Messenger) and once again, removing my damn contact number from their pages. I don't personally care if Sonja from Russia just turned 18 and already has a pay porn site up.

Fact is though, you could wear a helmet, the same way you can do backups on your PC and prevent serious injury. Close analogy, but PCs won't cause you a crippling injury or physical pain when you poochscrew it as opposed to falling off Microsoft Bicycle 2001.
