open sourcers don't necessarily get paid to release code, so they don't have the luxury of releasing shit just so they can keep their jobs by releasing updates for the next 5 years. when a commercial product finally DOES become useable they make a whole new buggy/bloated product that they can release fixes and patches for.
/. Subscription? Can't you ask for something a little more useful? Like some fruit stripe gum? Some Glad trash bags? Lump of coal? (at least it's combustable and is a feasible source of heat and or energy)
Well excuse me Mr. Prissy-pants. Forgive me for insulting you with my comments. I'll FTP you a dollar for your troubles of showing me the error of my ways. =P
Thank you sir. I am corrected. I shot what I had off from memory and I guess there was some data loss in the neural decoding process. Props on catching that and actually knowing the real quote tho. =)
The infrequency of linux/unix box break-ins is what makes this newsworthy. we all know that for every 1 linux/unix box that is compromised, there are a whole slew of windows machines.
SCO acts like they have their hand down MS's pants, and they're trying to shove a splintered wooden broomstick up the ass of the entire unix/linux/(and now netware) community. That only leaves a few more body parts and one major OS. Apple. I'm sure darwin has some printf statements in there that violate SCO's IP. Put your chastedy(sp?) belt on Apple. SCO might wanna get friendly with you too.

Beautiful. And props to whomever submitted my SCO fix for the day.
Next thing you know they'll make the robots female. and hot. and program them to be interactive dating simulations... ph34r the cute ones...
It's good to see a company that makes a fine product doing well. See, Darl? Money CAN be made from selling software.

That's exactly what I was getting at. How many times has MS patched RPC now? IIS? I lost count.
In any case, the faulty code that allowed the attack was obiously stolen from SCO. Yeah. that's it. It was SCO's shitty deprecated code!
