    There's no reason not to let it play out here. You don't have to participate. I don't want to take away your federal government, your state government, your city and county government. I just want every individual to be free to create their own alternative. You can choose to associate only with people who follow your government's rules, if you wish, and ignore all the rat bastards like me who don't like it and want some other authority. If we try to hurt you, I support you and your government shooting or restraining us or whatever you think is necessary.

    So you are down with all this and more because, "...but not at the expense of others.."

    I am for him not having to pay for the consequences of people who do those things, if he doesn't want to. I believe they should be allowed to do it, and agree they shouldn't get to do what they want at the expense of others.

    Then you should also sign a card saying you are not entitled to medical care to treat potential illnesses caused that have direct links to the digestion of trans fats, unless you pay for it yourself.

    I'm all for "it's my body" and all that, I honestly am, but not at the expense of others.

    why? cuz smoking is gross and nasty and smelly. I want to actually enjoy the food that I'm paying for, not to have everything taste like an ashtray. The same goes for both tobacco and MJ.

    I agree with you that it's nasty and smelly and I avoid it like the plague. But I don't have the right to tell some guy what behaviors he can't allow in his place. If people want to get together and eat and smoke, then the right thing for me to do is to simply not go there.

    If I own a restaurant or other property and I want to let people smoke there, it's wrong for you to stop me.

    So I see from Wikipedia and other sources that he is married to professor Mary Collins, immunologist. I wonder how she feels about him falling in love with women in the workplace. I know my wife doesn't take too kindly to that.

    I agree with you that 3 is better than 2, and I definitely don't want to see 1. But I believe the whole system of giving anybody control is broken and wrong. Most of the powers the government has need to be eliminated - they were wrong when kings exercised them, it became slightly better (by some measures) when we started voting on people taking turns exercising them, and it might be slightly better if we had more choices on who to vote in for tyrant each term. But the ultimately solution is to not give those powers out at all.

    I'd say nobody's ever served by having an angry outburst, but certainly those of us who have been enjoying adfree netflix viewing are bothered by the idea of ads being inserted. This is clearly a decrease in value and for many of us it may be enough to prompt us to look for alternatives.

    Because it's cheaper to have an immortal serf class than it is to have to train up larval serfs for 20 years at a net negative value before they're useful? Young people are generally a resource sink with no return on investment for a couple decades.

    Historically speaking, a young person began to earn an income much earlier than age 20. It's only our modern laws and policies that have been pushing this later and later. Even today this continues as more and more young people start their careers laden with high college debt.

    mintty has been around for 3+ years, maybe longer. For a default cygwin install on a fresh machine, the "Cygwin" icon that gets installed launches mintty.

    Putty runs circles around the cmd.exe terminal you'd have to suffer with, going that route.

    Cygwin has changed a lot since you last looked at it. Cygwin's default terminal is now mintty.exe, which is a project based off of Putty's terminal.
