hmmzz... i suppose that classifies europe as 'more elite' than the us ? (guess you're right at that anyways)
btw, i think the ukranians should be very happy now, at least they dodn't get bombed for their terrorism (i thought piracy etc could be seen as equal to terrorism with the great laws the us has atm?)
ah well, probably p*ssed off some people with this, but i guess only the ones that are so full of themselves and their 'glorious nation' that they would support da bushman even if he would throw some atomic bombs on a supposedly terrorist house somewhere in europe... , and even then wouldnt notice that they might have offended/hurt some people doing so (but who cares about hurting non-americans, right?)
who says 'chatting online' with your neighbours and going to a pub to talk to them exclude each other?
never used video phones, and i dont really intend to do so either:) especially not when talking to my neighbour.. but then again, i also dont use the phone to talk to them if i can easily walk over there... but i think i would rather talk to someone online to discuss when we could go to a pub to have a good chat than walk over there if its on the other end of the block and IF he is already available online.. ah well it all depends on the situation... (and video conferencing sux too, but i guess it can be useful in some cases -- 'an image says more than a thousand words' --)
besides... i think its tragic that some people immediately classfy other people on 1 facet of their behaviour...
depends on what category of people u call adults of course...(no ofeense meant btw)
if u define adults as being 30+, and/or no tech background or no interest at all in internet things... then i guess your right
if u take adults as being 18+ with some interest in the internet, im sure u will find quite a few that (IF they are sure it willl work etc) would like very much to participate...
its like saying: can u really see many women saying: "whoaaa, nice car dude, what special 'features' does the engine have" and whatever other things there is nice about cars (i dont know because im not interested in cars:) )
just because most people have the idea that only men 'flip' on cars.
U do have a point that most of the bandwidth there is (at THIS moment) not useful to have for most people... but then again... lots of types of enforced insurance (like medical insurance etc) are neither, but its the same principle that counts there: SOME people need it, the rest thinks it 'could be useful or nice to have, because yuo never know what is going to happen' and they all pay so the price would be lower for all people. MAybe you would be paying for something u would never use, but thats the same with insurance. Consider this also as some kind of insurance for the future;)
If they were stronger, they would have been right, because people today wouldn't know any different.
How can you say that? The Maquis clearly thought the Axis was wrong. German dissidents clearly thought the Axis was wrong. Both groups were clearly weaker than the Axis powers.
Most everyone today agrees the Crusades were wrong. Same goes for the Inquisition. It did not take the absolute defeat of the aggressor to come to this conclusion.
hmm, i agree they weren't "physically" conquered or defeated (speaking of the inquisition that is, the crusaders were) BUT through time, church (and it's sub-institution the Inquisition) has lost a significant amount of influence, because of secularisation etc... which allowed people to THINK differently... nowadays most people indeed realise that crusades were wrong and that the inquisition was wrong , but even if you go back about 50 years in time (and maybe even now in the southern states.. dont wanna offend anyone, but the picture most of europeans have from the southern states is that people are almost extremely catholic as people were here in the beginning of the 20th century). So in a sense these people/institutions were defeated... and it's ebviously true that the winning party writes the history books, it has always been this way, it will (probably) always be that way. Conquerors can always get away with more than those defeated.
