Much like Europe in the 19th century. China went from the equivalent of 16th century Europe to the 20th in about 30 years. There's no reason to think they can't overcome the same gains we made in 100 years in a single generation.
So enjoy the view from the high horse while you still have it...
I agree that the US has been going in the wrong direction for some time but I do not envy the Chinese. There is a lot of people suffering there and it's not just because of their totalitarian government, they have giant looming issues that are one disruption from crumbling their empire.
Right now China is economically dependant on...
All of this is also true for every other country, except China has a plan and a system of government that can execute a plan. Meanwhile the US has a bunch of infants pissing in their nappies.
Sure China ain't great, but if you had to have a bet on who will be ahead in a hundred years, my money isn't on the the US (as much as I would like it to be).
They want to go all the way back to nation-based and controlled currencies. Great. Seems like they've completely missed the point.
What point is that? It will make it hard to have anything of value with no way to protect it. Thus at some point you need an enforcement, and a democracy tends to have the fairest system for enforcement that I have seen.
...and I'm still not sure if I would *notice* the speedup if I bought a 2017 system to replace it. A gamer friend tells me I will notice, but only if...
I still have my i7-3770 (3.4GHz) in my gaming PC because CPU is not a major factor. SSD and GPU makes most of the difference these days.
A new CPU also means a new motherboard and new RAM. An expensive upgrade for probably 10% difference...
A single copy on Dropbox that has no SLA with you... is not sufficient..
Depends on your requirements. You have the original copy, a local zip backup, and an online zip backup, and historical backups every few days both local and remote.
That would be sufficient in most DRP's I've worked on.
What kind of a developer doesn't know that Windows programs can permanently delete its own data files?
I think we know what kind.
What kind of developer doesn't even know that when Windows deletes a file, the file is still there, only the index is deleted, any data recovery util will get it back.
It would've taken less time to recover the deleted files than rant about it on the Internet...
It counters your claim that everything is portrayed and left or right. Republicans and Democrats ignored political sides and acted in the best interest of the country.
Whenever politicians put country before party it is a good thing.
I don't know how true that is with the current political climate.
Really? Trumo is the equivalent of a 12 yea rold. He is a man-baby. Everything he does is exactly what you would expect if 12 year old entitled rich kid was President.
.
I disagree with this. It doesn't matter how an idea is delivered
You can teach kids about Hitler in history class or they can join the Hitler youth. Its the same information only delivered differently. If you can't see the difference then there's no point discussing any further...
Yes, a museum and library. But somethings are important enough to be put front and center for every passerby to see. A statue in downtown stares you in the face begging you to learn why it stands there from a people long since dead.
Or encourages people to follow in their footsteps.
We know enough about human behaviour that if you leave rocks around someone will start throwing them. Dangerous ideas need to be delivered in a controlled manner, ie museums, libraries and schools etc...
Everything has to be portrayed as a left or right issue to keep people distracted and fighting among themselves
I suggest you get out more. Congress came together to sanction Russia, and they seem to be coming together more and more in opposition to pretty much anything Trump says. Left and Right is trash talk, if you get past the headlines, there's a lot of problem solving happening in Congress and the Senate.
But I'm more inclined to believe that Trump is disbanding the councils to avoid being embarrassed by the publicity of the people on those councils quitting.
While I agree that he doesn't have it as bad as GP stated, you have to admit that he has the worst conditions ever without a major war.
Which he brought on himself. Part of leadership is taking responsibility for your actions, and he is unwilling to do even that. The bad situation he finds himself in is all his own fault, but yet he continues to play victim. This is not the traits of a leader....
Because Trump said so. Don't believe the media, it's all lies. Believe what Trump tells you and don't ask questions.
Actually don't even believe what he says because when you quote him back to himself he blames the media for that too...
How do you tell the difference? I've had mushrooms a couple of times, good high, no ill-effects, but I can't get past the fact that other mushrooms that look the same can kill you. It's an awful lot of trust if you're relying on someone else to pick them for you (and don't know what to look for yourself).
Please explain to me how one statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest, let alone several, accomplishes this goal.
Because it's a window to understand history for anyone willing to learn. Because it's a story that a people from a different time wanted to tell future generations.
Yeah we should've left all the Nazi paraphernalia up in Europe after WW2 too right?
Ever heard of a museum or a library?
Sadly we can chalk up another 'win' to groupthink, oppression of minorities, and censorship.
If groupthink is not allowing hate groups access to a privately run service, and oppression of minorities is the same as the way we put criminals in prison, and censorship is like how we don't allowing public sex in school classrooms, then yeah, this is sad...
You make anything sound less harmful than it is by throwing around words like censorship, but ultimately some level of censorship creates a higher quality of life overall. Or Maybe you shouldn't allow that red light to censor your freedom of expression to push you right foot down whenever you feel like it...
That isn't really enough information to make a call. The 24th most abundant could be 1.01x more abundant , or it could be 1000x more abundant than the 25th.
Effort to extract, and environmental impact are probably more important metrics.
If they lose 10% in 60 cycles, they would be near useless after 500 cycles. Lithium Ion batteries are at least twice as long lived. I have cell phone batteries that still are above 90% after two years.
Is this a problem?
Remember when a phone lasted a week on battery, then the iPhone came out and lasted a day and everyone said that was rubbish? People adapted because the benefits outweighed the issues.
If you give me a battery with 5 times capacity but only lasts 1/4 as long I think I can live with that. Especially when the used product is more recyclable and it is less toxic to produce.
will gray chinese types hack into the educator's computer systems to learn what they could just read over at the journal advanced materials?
Probably already done, and the factories are already being tooled up. Most of the Universities in Sydney are filled with Chinese students anyway, no hacks are not required...
Way to distribute Chinese propaganda, Slashdot ... ...but exotic trains for the government elite...
600 million passengers per year, it's right there in the summary. Unless the word elite means something different where you live...

Intel have lost the lowend to ARM, and the lowend is where the volume is.
I don't know the economics of CPUs, but as with Apple v Android, margin is more important than volume.
A random guy posts a rant on MS github page, gets 8 responses, and it becomes a story on Slashdot?
Some days I really question why I still read this site.
This is the only comment that needs to be here. Fuck Slashdot.

"Congress came together to sanction Russia"
Is that supposed to be a good thing?!?!

Well he failed at that too...
the President is not a king and cannot rule like a dictator.
Has he tried to be one?
Yes.
Trump has it worse because why?
Because Trump said so. Don't believe the media, it's all lies. Believe what Trump tells you and don't ask questions.
Actually don't even believe what he says because when you quote him back to himself he blames the media for that too...

It's right next to Lithium, which is the 25th.

This is our monthly "revolutionary battery" news item. There's always something wrong.
Except in the case where it's right such as NiMH and LiPo...
