A new CPU also means a new motherboard and new RAM. An expensive upgrade for probably 10% difference...

Depends on your requirements. You have the original copy, a local zip backup, and an online zip backup, and historical backups every few days both local and remote.

I suggest you get out more. Congress came together to sanction Russia, and they seem to be coming together more and more in opposition to pretty much anything Trump says. Left and Right is trash talk, if you get past the headlines, there's a lot of problem solving happening in Congress and the Senate.

Remember when a phone lasted a week on battery, then the iPhone came out and lasted a day and everyone said that was rubbish? People adapted because the benefits outweighed the issues.
If you give me a battery with 5 times capacity but only lasts 1/4 as long I think I can live with that. Especially when the used product is more recyclable and it is less toxic to produce.

Intel have lost the lowend to ARM, and the lowend is where the volume is.
I don't know the economics of CPUs, but as with Apple v Android, margin is more important than volume.
