erg--his or her greatness. thats the other great thing about america, we might not be the MOST equal society, but we try hard (most of us, atleast, i hope).
sorry.
I'm not sure if this is an issue of "capitalism", just because its chic to bash it, doesnt mean its always relevant. This is more of an issue of "theres-more-benefit-to-hiring-3-average-programme rs-than-pay-out-the-wazoo-for-one-damn-good-one".
Also in a capitalist paradigm, this highly talented individual would invent something befitting his greatness, and be a gagillionare. And this happens all the time in the US...

Japanese and US governments have asked Circuit City, Best Buy, and Sony not to sell any PS2 units or DVD players to Chinese citizens, as this would give the dangerous technology of DVD to China.
QUEL HORRUER! The Chinese will now be able to watch the Caddyshack double DVD set! This must be stopped at all expense!
Those are for red-light runners. They snap your pic if you enter on a red (not if youre in the zone when it turns red). Trust me, I live in Boulder (so I'm in Denver very often), and between Boulder and Denver (and all the small cities in between) I would bet you would have a very difficult time finding a metro area more concentrated with photo-law-enforcement equipment.

Sure moving it out to the end user is new, but ATM has been kickin 155 Mbps over UTP for quite some time...since the article is short on any technical detail I can only speculate this is what it is (especially given that DSL is just really cell relay at some level, anyway). All major switch vendors sell this hardware.
From my shaddy memory I recall sometime in the mid ninties a company called Micro Linear in Business Week peddling chips to do this. What's different?
Just like it was done since 1.X.x, it'll be 2.4.10. 2.2 went all the way up to 19. I think 2.0 went even up into 39.
