...but the good stuff isn't going to be opened up. They get to select what they will release to the public. This is nice for an optimist, but in reality, exciting new stuff will still take time to trickle out into the market. On the bright side, those 11 organizations are 11 of the best out there, so whatever does end up coming out from them ought to be totally worth it.
What's going to be really awesome is when you're posting something unflattering on/. about one of the telco's getting involved in BPL, and then as soon as you hit submit, your lights go out, and 5 minutes later the feds barge in and take you away to gitmo.
but seriously, i guess on one hand it would be nice to have fewer lines and cables running around everywhere. on the other hand, if someone's digging without a license and accidentally slices through one of these puppies, a neighborhood goes dark, and the phones are out, and and... hopefully redundancy could take care of this kind of problem.
why shouldn't google have to remove the pictures? it's like requesting to have your name and phone number removed from phone directories. the world isn't everyone's business. from a privacy pov, i think google ought to readily comply with anyone who wants to keep prying eyes off their front porch, public, private, whatever.
so my friends and i went on up to mount baldy here in so cal, and after a good long drive, found a nice spot to sit and chill, just to watch the stars and hopefully see some go whizzing past. only saw a few stars, but there was this coyote or dog or something that came flying around the corner, i swear the thing must have been going like, 30 mph. anyway, not too many meteors sighted between 11 and 12 pst from our spot in so cal (maybe 8).
hey kids, i think it's about time to get our corporate espionage on. any cs majors out there, take a few courses in "how-to-dismantle-a-business-empire-from-the-insid e-onimics. and even though MS isn't killing people with violence and guns and stuff, it doesn't make what they're doing any less wrong. once there is NO alternative and we're all using standard software to do the same tasks, innovation will likely plummet. not innovation at microsoft - we allll know that's an oxymoron. so, in short, do what you can to help dissolve this company, and support the electric car!
holy cow scuttlemonkey, 8 in a row! that's more than your mom!
Here's a link to the actual survey. It's not too informative, but it shows the cyclic nature of the p2p userbase mentioned in the article.
