Java problem is not FreeBSD's problem, it's the issue from SUN. Java is not free, especially it's implemention source code, although everyone think it is free, but it is not really, it prevents someone from modifying and porting it.

one of zero-copy's goal is to improve performance of old program and not force them to be rewritten!
sendfile is a possible solution, but many program were not written in a such way, and because sendfile() can only send file like data but not
intermediated buffer, it can not represent every thing, improve traditional recv() and send() performance is valuable to do.
nice to see this was implemented in NetBSD, anyone
    consider port it to FreeBSD?

Yes, FreeBSD is the most stable OS I ever used.
Yesterday, our company's mail server ( a Redhat Linux ) sunddenly stopped working and crashed, when we power off it and power on again, we found that the system just can not auto recover from crash, it refused continue to mount other filesystemes, we later found that our five ext2 file systems are all corrupted, we must manually
repair it, when finished the recover, we found mass file were lost.
we also use FreeBSD as our CVS server, in two years, we never found FreeBSD crash, we never lost
data even someone imprudencly power off it without shutdown system.

FreeBSD is rock solid, it's true.

Thanks Jordan and other FreeBSD hackers, you are my hero.

your tallback is so weakness, you can not provide a strong reason that *BSD is dying. FreeBSD is a very active centralized project, whole source code from kernel to userland and package system are under CVS control, this is a great project, unlike Linux, it is scratched by some nastly kernel hackers, there is no centralized source repository, no manager, only a kernel source code controlled by Linus, sigh, I suspect why Linux is popular, it must will die in several years. follow up Linux is a great risk!

Well, if we want to have the "standard" language be "Chinese", you'll first have to decide which one you want.
China has 7 main dialects, according to my Chinese language class teacher. People in Shanghai speak a language that can almost be considered completely different than the one in Beijing. They use the same characters for writing, but use them to mean different things. At the very least, you have Mandarin and Cantonese.
Also, while Chinese is a grammatically simple language (no conjugation, no pluralisation, etc.), it is less fun to write, because there is no alphabet. Yes, there is a different character for every word. Yes, there is a rhyme/reason to the characters, but that doesn't make it all that much less difficult to learn all of them. Oh, and you have to decide whether you want simplified or traditional Chinese characters to be the "standard", too.
Finally, while the population of China is certainly the largest in the world, do they really have the most people _online_? I have no statistics, I'm actually curious.
Sotto la panca, la capra crepa
sopra la panca, la capra campa

I am Chinese, Chinese has only one charset, and everyone can speak in mandarin to interactive with each other. of course they can also talk in local native language with same charset with mandarin!
    enjoy!
