Much like Intel phased out the Pentium series, but the Centrino and Dual Core series still use Pentium instruction sets but are no longer called Pentium.
Even admitting to using or owning Unixware is like admitting to using or owning Windows ME.:)
But anyway UnixWare used source code from open source products the same ones used in Linux. So trying to claim that Linux stole SCO Unix code by comparing source code between Linux and SCO Unix aka UnixWare you'll end up finding code that SCO used as Skunkware in their version of Unix that is source code from many open source projects that also became part of Linux distros as well. So all you prove is that Linux is based on open source products and that UnixWare is based on open source products as well. Meaning that the only ones with the right to sue are those who wrote the open source products on which Linux and UnixWare/ SCO Unix are based on, provided they violate the open source languages by not providing access to the source code, etc.
Not to mention that Apple sues web sites that show rumors and news on Apple products. Part of the reason why Apple sued them, was to stop all of the news and rumors on defective Apple technology like laptop batteries that caught on fire, flaws in OSX, cracks in Mac cases, and poor customer support, etc. Once Apple sues all critics into oblivion, there can be no more negative reviews on Apple products.
Because Mac Users are trained to look past the flaws and defects in Apple products, by being told that if they used PCs and Windows, it would be much worse. Much like North Korea tells their citizens that it is much worse in Europe and the USA and in NK it is paradise. That is why Apple gets highest consumer satisfaction rates, due to the Pro-Apple Propaganda that passes as news. Plus many people are paid to post positive reviews on Apple products and post negative reviews on non-Apple products, maybe you remember that Guy Kawasaki was paid to promote Apple products and write books to support them? Like the Macintosh way, it is basically Apple's little red book of propaganda.
Agreed, BeOS, AmigaOS, Linux, BSD Unix, etc are all good operating systems as well as Mac OSX is a good operating system. What the rest lacked that Apple has is a good marketing department. If Apple didn't heavily market their products, they'd be another footnote in history like the rest.
Many of us want an alternative to Windows and Mac OSX, and are hoping for more choices than just Linux and BSD Unix. That is where ReactOS, HaikuOS, AROS, and other operating systems come in, but they are not ready for prime-time yet.
eComStation is nice as well, but OS/2 has grown long in the tooth and has roots from Microsoft and it is too much like Windows to seriously consider it as an alternative.
Ah yeah like those old 1980's space shuttle O-rings. Don't stop the shuttle launch, we got a schedule to keep, this is reliable technology and we trust the engineers more than we trust the 8 bit Commodore 64 that says something is wrong with the O-rings. Just reboot it, and launch the shuttle.

Look, the problem went away, all lights are green. What is the worst than can happen?
Windows 95/98/ME ran on 1990's Pentiums and used C code as well. It worked rather well according to Microsoft. But I doubt anyone here would use it in a B-2 Stealth Bomber before replacing it with at least Linux.:)
Well in order to run the game in a virtual machine, emulator, or WINE the game has to be copied into system RAM to be used in a way that is different from the way Native Windows works and the way the EULA says it should be loaded.
In fact, most games don't even run under WINE unless they are modified in some way to remove the DRM or copy protection. Even if they aren't modified, WINE doesn't even use the DLLs that the video game is supposed to modify in order to run, and uses the WINE code instead, which is an violation of the EULA in that the game is copied to RAM via an EULA violation.
I agree with you on it. Sometimes the Internet File Sharing Pirates come up with good ideas like that.
Even those COA XP Keys on used computer cases can be used as keys for Tiny XP Beast Edition, because it lacks activation. In fact, Tiny XP series of mods are what XP should have been in the first place to make a majority of the OS optional to install, and be able to only install the Core of the OS. If Microsoft did that, the DOJ would not have to sue them over bundled software.
Chances are IBM will still have a problem supplying them, plus new game consoles will get a priority in shipping in 2010, when that XBox 720 or Playstation 4 comes out.
It is also possible that the eight core chip will be really expensive, and in order to keep up with it a PowerMac would cost $4000 or more just to eliminate bottlenecks and use optical technology like super computers use to be able to use the chip properly. Not to say that nothing stops Apple from bringing out PowerPC based Macs in 2010 as Mac OSX already runs on PowerPC code and would have to be modified to run on the Power7 instruction set. Which is very doable. Apple could have Intel Macs for low cost systems for home and small businesses, and Power7 Macs for high end workstations and servers for middle to large businesses. I don't see why Apple couldn't bring back PowerMacs and sell them next to Intel Macs, unless IBM starts to have production problems again and can't supply Apple the number of PowerPC chips that they need?
because if someone writes a plug-in to help gamers, they will use this case to sue them as well.
This case shows that no consumer can own a copy of a video game, the game development company still owns the copy but only gives the consumer the right to use it in a native copy of Windows, and not modify it in any way. I guess it also means you cannot sell it used, nor can you run it inside of WINE, or a virtual machine or emulator either. You can only run it in a native copy of Windows, anything else is considered modifying it and violating the EULA and could get you sued.
Hey, Virtual PC 2007 is free to download and use on Vista to run Windows XP inside of it. So Vista users already have that option.
VMWare has that VMWare Server free for Vista, and it can run XP under a virtual machine as well.
I am wondering why someone doesn't port WINE over to Vista? I think that there are some legacy Windows applications that run in WINE but not Vista. Maybe if Microsoft licenses WINE they can include it in Windows 7.0 as an XP virtual machine, and contribute code back to WINE to make it run more Windows applications under Linux?
Maybe Windows 7.0 can go back to the XP/2003 codebase?
Actually the Internet File sharing Pirates have an answer to that, it is called Tiny XP. It is the bare minimum you need from XP to play games on it.
Microsoft has Windows PE, of which BartPE and Reatogo are based on provided you have a legal Windows XP SP2 or higher CD-ROM to use to create the smaller version of XP on for just the basics. They are what the Ultimate Boot CD is based on and there exists an option to install that to the hard drive instead of the standard XP. I've used it and it does not even ask you for a valid CD-Key to install BartPE or boot from it. You just have to own a copy of Windows XP SP2 or higher to use it, while it works with XP SP1 and under, I wouldn't recommend it. I even heard it can use Windows Vista for a PE version of Windows, but I never tried that.
It is either BartPE or some variation, or wait for ReactOS to at least get a beta build. ReactOS 0.3.5 came out in June 30th 2008, but Slashdot seems to be ignoring it and BartPE and variants. ReactOS is an open source OS based on WINE that is being written to run at least Windows XP/2003 code under it and use XP/2003 drivers. It is not ready for prime time yet.
I have a son and nephews who like Civ 4 on my son's PC, but wish it were easier for them to play. Civ Revolutions would be a good program to install on my son's PC so I don't have to keep giving them advice on how to play the game.
Looks like the real reason to go XBox 360 instead of PC or Mac, is to force people to buy a new gaming console for $299 and then the $59 Civ Revolutions DVD, instead of just buying the $59 Civ Revolutions DVD for the PC or Mac.
What I am upset over is that the Civ Revolutions commercial didn't state that it was only available for game consoles and not the PC or Mac. I had to take my son to the game store, only to find out that it didn't exist for his PC, and I have to buy him an XBox 360 because his Playstation 2 doesn't play it nor does his XP PC.
Just a gimmick to get more money from us, by shutting out the PC and Mac versions and forcing us to buy an XBox 360 to play those games.
Come on the XBox 360 graphic system Xenos isn't even as great as a Radeon 9000 series. You've been sold a bill of goods. It is such a crappy chipset that it has over-heating problems that cause the red ring of death. Even a NVidia 6000 series is way better than the ATI Xenos chipset in the XBox 360 and it comes standard on sub300 systems now.
One thing a PC can do that an XBox can't, is swap in a PCI Express Video Card and get even better graphics.
Yeah PC gamers just became Mac gamers, and the Mac is now an Intel PC.:)
Ah well, I can still play the Civ 4 series for now. Wait until they fix all of the bugs and memory leaks in the game console version, and then the PC and Mac versions will be better debugged.
It isn't even worth the $299, because I can easily get a much more powerful PC with better graphics and audio and more RAM and a much bigger hard drive for the same amount of memory with a faster CPU to boot.
What I don't like is that new games like Civilization Revolutions are being released for game consoles only and not the PC anymore. Way to go 2K, tick off all of the loyal PC users who bought Civ 4, Civ 4: Warlords, and Civ 4: Beyond the Sword, only to be shut out of the new Civilization game in favor of the XBox 360, Nintendo DS, and Playstation 3. Civilization is better played on a keyboard and mouse not a game pad. It is a thinking game of strategy and tactics, not some "shoot 'em up" high action game console video game.
So now if I want to play Civilization Revolution, the next in the Civilization series, I have to buy a more expensive game console, and when Civilization 5 comes out, no doubt I'll also be forced to buy a brand new PC with better graphics, more RAM, and a faster CPU just to be able to run it.
Thanks for the buggy bloated video games, that are basically the same game with more features added to it as the old game that played on the older systems, only now at a higher price on a new game console that also costs at least $299 to play it on for a $60 game.
It really makes me want to use Freeciv instead, even if it is only 2D graphics and doesn't have all the bells and whistles and fancy animation of the commercial version.

My reasoning is not flawed, all I did was call you on your bullshit and tell you that it was not funny.
Nobody cares if your puns were intended. Maddox, once again, is right about you. Please read that article carefully, your intelligence and reasoning are so flawed that you might miss the whole point of what trying to explain your puns that were intended really means.
I'm glad that I am a Pirate like Maddox, instead of a liberal like you. At least we Pirates are smart enough to learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others, and do not blame scapegoats instead for our personal failures and mistakes like most liberals do. 50 years from now, you'll be in a nursing home and all you can talk about is what a crook Bush was, and have no proof of it. Maddox and I will be in a nursing home talking about our great achievements and how we actually contributed to society and the economy and solved problems and kicked butts and took names instead of like liberals like you wasting your time blaming politicians and smoking joints instead of taking responsibility for our own lives and actually making a difference in the world. I am sure that the nurses will love to hear about how Bush and the neocons contoled you via a chip implanted in your head that made you make bad decisions and bad choices and not save enough money for retirement or at least spend your money on useful things and stop being such a narcissist and fall in love and get married and have kids. Nope, Bush prevented you from doing all of that via that neocon chip in your head so you can use it as an excuse for being a complete and total loser and throwing your entire life away just to support some conspiracy theory and win the last argument over the Internet over if it is true or not despite not having any proof or evidence to back it up.
It is not ignorant or dishonest, the whole Bush is a tyrant argument is a strawman argument in itself. It is part of those 911 conspiracy theories that keep coming up. It is just another variation of the same conspiracy theory and I and many others are getting sick of it. The whole theory in itself is that New World Order theory, and the only NWO that ever existed or will exist was a Wrestling Stable in the WCW before Vince McMahon bought them out. Everything else is bullshit.
Like was said, it is the same bullshit just in a new package trying to be passed off as something different, rather than the same conspiracy bullshit that keeps being passed around. This bullshit isn't even news, it is liberal propaganda and between liberal propaganda and neocon propaganda, us moderates are getting tired of being put in the middle. There is no news in this story just another "Bush is a tyrant" liberal propaganda, that seems to plague most forums and Internet news sites. It is repetitive and very boring, and while you think it is funny, or a creative legal opinion, it is not it is just more bullshit trying to pass itself off as news. Now I am all for recycling, but when you recycle the same opinions over and over again and call it new, when it is the same bullshit I've been hearing for years, I'd hardly call it a joke that went over my head. This bullshit isn't funny or clever, or even original, it is more stupid than funny, it is more biased than funny, it is more propaganda than funny, it is more personal attacks and strawman arguments than funny. Maddox is right on this subject, you are a bunch of morons. All you do is repeat the same opinion over and over again and it isn't even based on reality, and when I call you on it, you claim it went over my head and I used a strawman argument myself? Who made you the expert on the subject, did you pass a bar exam and earn a legal degree and major in law? Do you have over 15 years of experience in law, and are a member of the supreme court? I think more than likely you are just doing what that liberal college professor told you to do, and just copied what was said on some anonymous blog that passes for news these days, and you really have no clue what you are talking about or that it is the same old bullshit different name, and you actually think there is a joke in there but somehow you have to explain the joke in order for it to be funny, and you are shocked when a person of above average intelligence reads it and calls bullshit on it.
No clearly bashing Bush for 9/11 and bashing Bush on document retention aren't based on the same New World Order conspiracy theory, it isn't like you are bashing Bush on some bullshit conspiracy theory, you are bashing Bush based on some evidence which I asked you to prove, but you don't have to prove it because a majority of people agree with you to bash Bush because they happen to think he and his administration are part of some conspiracy theory that everyone agrees with but not the same old conspiracy theory you used to bash Bush on 9/11, but a completely different conspiracy theory for which you have no evidence and cannot prove anything in a court of law for, but I should take your word anyway that it is 100% true and not the same old bullshit I keep reading.
I don't like neocons, but I think I don't like liberals more because there is more liberal bullshit being passed around than neocon bullshit.
Just remember that I am a moderate swing voter, the more you tick me off, the more likely I won't vote for your candidate just to tick you off. Liberals are the vocal majority, neocons are the silent majority, but we moderates are the true majority and swing voters as well.
I think there is a setting in the registry to change the OS from server to workstation. It is also discussed here how to do it.

Funny you should mention it, back issues of the Apple Doomsday Clock show a trend in Apple that is moving towards a cult. The Apple Doomsday Clock used to follow Apple's fascist and cult-like trends. Not to mention that Apple sues web sites that show rumors and news on Apple products. But no, make it for game consoles, due to piracy, because it isn't like a mod-chip exists for game consoles and already file sharing networks are sharing over a million copies of the XBox 360 ISO files already, right? For $299 after rebate you can buy a name brand PC (Compaq, Dell, HP, IBM, Gateway, Acer, etc) with at least a 256M NVidia GForce 7000 graphics card.
Civilization series uses SecureROM for copy protection and always asks for that damn DVD in order to play the game.
