    try:
    > root (hd0,0)
    > chainloader +1
    > boot

    you might want to fiddle with the numbers in (hd0,0) (hd0,1) or whatever.

    but you should keep a grub bootflop at hand for if you manage to fuck up your MBR.

    You mean, the MultiBoot specification. It's needed for the HURD.

    Most OSes have bootstrapping code to avoid chicken-egg problems while booting.

    I have dedicate some gigs on my machine for a local mirror. So I don't have to bother switching CD's. My other machines update from network.

    That makes life very comfortable :)

    The reason for using Emacs is ofcourse that it's heavily customizable. It is very flexible.
    It is scriptable (at runtime). And it around for a very long time. Therefor there are LOTS of handy scripts already written for it.

    If you want to spend the rest of your life in an editor, choose one that's powerful and flexible.

    Well, I find it nice that when I have 3 konqueror browsers open and I add a bookmark in 1. It also appears in the other ones.

    Both Gnome and KDE make these kind of things easy (well at least less dificult).

    And I'm not talking about what your mothers desktop should look like.

    So why is this rubust and successfull, gpl'ed program dead? Just because it won't link against new libraries doesn't make it dead.

    And it's ofcourse GPL, which means that you can reuse parts of it in other software.
