It is a fact that GNU+Linux has got thousands of programs everything doing its task. Systemd has to specify its goals else it is doomed. First of all most programs are never used. At least on my system I mainly use emacs, gcc and make as well some libraries.
Minimal operating systems are a big deal. Systemd is overloaded and doesn't really do anything the user benefits of directly. You should ask yourself if you put in a room so much theory, does it become thinking once.
