Not sure about how much the monthly pay was though. I think I remember ed it at around $100 myself, or really close in the neighborhood. If anyone is from the area they couls always check.
You forgot about marketing. You can keep track of product quality and market share... thru marketing. (wish Atari had learned that with the Jaguar)
As long as you maintain good brand quality and are able to market it aggressively. There is a real possibility of being able to control market share. (Ask Microsoft about marketing and maintaining market share, I'm sure they could give some pointers)
At work I have Star Office 5.2 and I can transcribe .xls files just fine from Excel. I don't know, Maybe I'm doing something right.
