I don't care about the mod points. My issues are certainly valid and to the point: An operating system should, first and foremost, allow one's system to operate. Anything that falls short of this goal is seriously deficient and *certainly* not worth my hard-earned money.
What in the *hell* is the point of a pretty interface for your operating system, when it won't carry out basic operating system tasks efficiently?
Of course, I'm not *really* asking this question, since we all know that the point of Windows upgrades isn't to improve our experience, but to drive the purchase of new hardware, that will require new software, that will drive Microsoft's numbers up. That being said, this sort of thing is just completely unacceptable. Copying files is amongst the most basic things a computer can be asked to do.
I know nothing will motivate me to use a company's products like having them SUE my ass. Is Diebold kidding or something, here? I want to see them get smacked down, and HARD.
I thought it was rather obvious that within the various profiles, the more that the customer knows about Linux and indeed *nix in general, the longer MS thinks it will take to sell 'em on their solution.
Obsession? I never realized I was obsessed with this topic. Hell, I've never even played any of the games Thompson has gone after. Frankly I don't give a rat's ass if a copy of Bully is ever sold, or if Take Two goes under... I keep my money elsewhere. Just so long as it's market-driven, and not the result of excess litigation. Thompson is but one symptom of a system that's been twisted terribly out of rational shape.
But this jackass comes up here every few months associated with some new attempt to litigate things out of existence. I think it's our duty as citizens, particularly if we have children, to try and pass them a world with SOME degree of personal freedom. A lot has been lost in this country, and complacency and apathy will have to shoulder a large part of the blame.
When they came for the gamers, I said nothing, because I was not a gamer.
So it's about doing someone else's ideas, but better?
To me, that sounds a *hell* of a lot better than doing someone else's ideas, but poorly, but having enough money and tenacity to wait out your failing competition.
As for the first point, I'm simply pointing out the senselessness of suggesting radio-controlled clocks as the obvious answer to the time change.
As for the other points, are you truly this obtuse? Do you honestly not understand that when I speak of nothing changing, I'm talking about the night of the clock change? If so, then I pity you. If not, you're just being argumentative for no good reason. Maybe you need to find a girlfriend or something.
"This is the Twenty-First Century. Use radio-controlled timepieces."
I'll remember to only accept antique grandfather clocks with radio controls.
"Being woken up earlier by an earlier sunrise doesn't count?",
Earlier sunrise? There's no earlier sunrise, we just assign a different numeric value to the time coordinate associated with the sunrise. If you don't look at the clock, nothing changes.
This has nothing to do with asking questions. Anyone without an obvious grudge is free to ask away.
This is about noticing and pointing out someone who *does* have an obvious, ongoing grudge, and warning folks. Consider them the hoots and hollers of a warning system easily understood by the most primitive amongst us. Enderle has a history, and those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
What it has to do with an article written by Rob Enderle though, escapes me... He's a shill, a paid propagandist, and not a particularly good one at that. Even the NY Times won't allow his spouting within its once-proud pages. In short, this article wasn't worth the electrons needed to convey it from the screen to your eyes.

Egads, what a piece of JUNK.

Objective news reporting? You must be new here.

Yup, sounds just right for preparing engineering students for the business world. There are lots of MBAs out there, you know.
I thought it was rather obvious that within the various profiles, the more that the customer knows about Linux and indeed *nix in general, the longer MS thinks it will take to sell 'em on their solution.
I would ask if the man was mentally unhinged, but that's been obvious for a while. I wonder though, what he means by 'gone on March 23'?

And why is it that Jack Thompson can walk down the street without everyone pointing and laughing?
I'm going to agree with you on that.
And then I'm going to go home and play my Inca Silver American Standard Tele.
So it's about doing someone else's ideas, but better?

Maybe that's just me, though.
As I translate Steve's remarks:
ROaaarrrr!!!! We are finding ourselves *hoot hoot* having to spend more money to hire quality programmers *scratch*. *Beats Chest* Google BAD!
I think of it as a software upgrade to your optical processing subsystem.
Besides, exercise tends to help biological systems in general, and FPS games most certainly lead to one exercising that chunk of gray matter.

Yes, because I wake up in my car, ready to drive to work.

I already work 7:30 to 3:30. Having DST at all is really just a nuisance to me.

Question author's background? Not at all. There's no question whatsoever regarding this author's background, nor his agenda.
That may be true.

Agreed. 'Insightful' is about the last word one can associate with anything Enderle's ever had to say.
He's probably sleeping on the window sill again. The research affected him deeply.
I say be glad. It's better to know up-front where someone is coming from, particularly if they're coming from a hateful place such as that.
Like private parts to the Gods are we; they play with us for their sport!
Why do you think they used SCO for this purpose?
