Didn't you ever went to a joint where they sell Coke, or beer, that is more "watered" than the original? They don't advertise this, of course!!
I can see what Microsoft is telling, "if you want to put an add on my product, put but you must include me". The problem is the attitude prior to this.
I don't think to be the unique Linux company in Europe isted is such a big think. First the analists are not so well aware of the linux market in Europe for business as in the States. And Mandrake will most prabably be gathered in the Internet,.com,cluster on the stock market, wich in these days is bad.
When buying stock, you should now: The present financial strength of the company, theirs ideas, who is running the company and where he has been, etc. You don't buy because someone tell you on tv: probably he is worjing for the bank/stock broker selling it.
An open source solution would be a lot more "sexy". Every corporation could study it, see the quality and choose freely and adopt the solution without fear of paying any royalties, like it is a IBM/Microsoft/Oracle/... paradigm.
If you read the paper carefully, you will see a lot of windows of all type, home server home-office servers, etc. That are not meant to be secure, they are meant to be open, universal. So the stat is a bit off. But I really thing the security off real servers are being neglected, mostly nt servers, but also a lot of linux/unixes because of lack of managment and supervision.
When you search tne net with google, or others like it, you get first what is most linked by others sites. So you already have a quality control before even your own. You can always compare the results, ask for more in newsgroups or the rights forum. Britannica is one of the ways of finding facts, but never should be the only one.
I don't know of other book focusing only on device drivers for Linux. There are a few about the kernel, but this is the one for device drivers, as far as I know.
I think we should PAY, but probably they should think of a more competetive way of getting the money.
They do a great job, a needed one, so why not pay? We pay to our teachers, doctors and lawyers even to the cable guys, and they don't provide always original info.
I never remember to go to one of those, my first thought is always a search engine. It is more complete and with a bigger range of directions. It isn't a unique, fast response, but life never is.
This opinion shows that we need more book on programming Linux, not only on Gaming Programming.
The mainstream developer can be engaged on Linux if they see more help, books, mags, etc. on Programming Linux. That will give more confidence on the future of the platform Linux, sure.
It will be a more well spent time to give help to build a device driver than to spend time flaming HP or others.
HP will probably release the specs if they see a more direct lobby to it. Not insults or flames.
Red Hat Database will be a media thing.
I bet it is only full support for big customers. They shouldn't be getting an all brand new product, just support, and that is a big job!!
HP is trying to be one Microsoft of the Linux Market. Sell you for a very expensive price what you can get, the most and important part, for free.
That can be good for the Corporate World where you have to sell to the suits a non-microsoft os with a good support (=expensive $).
Yes, They should. There will be simpler if there was only one. Something like Sea International Law.

I think this is one of the books worth have, even pay for.
I will see the book online, but as soon I got the money I will buy it.

1-click for AOL and a massive user database for amazon, and more taxes deductions for AOL (for the donation to amazon)
It's like a washing car machine with a exclusive brand of shampoo.

If you saw the last news about the Adobe crypto technology on the e-book, I don't think this will be a "100% hack-proof" for long.
What is this .NAP? MP3 with crypto?
