  1. Free Software Economy Model on Red Hat In The Black · · Score: 1

I always thinked only existed one model for free software; some small (or not so small) company, or a group of people, who can't pay licenses for comercial programs, start maintaining some program, necessary for their business. If the program isn't maintained, they got screwed. So they maintain, and can keep their business.

That model worked for Apache, and lots of other GPL programs. But now. RH has demonstrated that providing support for free software also works. Thumbs Up, RedHat!

  2. The Problem with this is... on Phoenix BIOS Phones Home? · · Score: 1

Until now, hardware and Software Providers had been two different entities (almost). If this works, in short time, we'll see Microsoft doing the same, making even harder for alternative OS to get their share of the market

However, this shouldn't happen, due to the lot of companies making computers, so Microsoft would have a hard time making aliances with them.

If this finally happens, the situation would be similar to Apple's (Hardware and Software Monopoly), but we know that one reason to the failure of Macs, is the monopoly on Hardware they have...

Technology has to advance. Lots of fields in science snd technology are abusable, so we have to stop development in these areas? (I think even weapon development shouldn't be stopped...someday martians will come back, and won't be happy with the martian McDonalds...)

So, move mole! for great justice!

  5. sucking_sucks.sux on "sucks".com Sites Win Legal Victory · · Score: 2

You know...it's not like the "suck" sites are popular or even good sites. They are only there, and that is all.

However, if some of these sites got real popularity, the affected company should think, why this is happening.

What I say, is, that they CAN be an annoyance, but hardly something else.

Of course, go tell the CEOs that.
