There are SVN branches that offer front end support to different live TV backends. MythTV is a viable backend with XBMC.

I've been using XBMC for over 5 years now. Up until last year it was completely on two XBoxen. It was fine for it's time, but as more and more HD content became available, the XBox started revealing its limitations in a big way.

I started using XBMC on a computer with the Live version on a USB thumbdrive. I would boot the thumbdrive on my work laptop and plug into my HDTV via a VGA connection. Last summer I built a full fledged mini-ITX HTPC with a Zotac Intel motherboard and integrated nVidia graphics. I don't use a mouse to control it. I use my Wii remote or a PS3 Bluetooth remote. Both work well. The Wiimote works almost completely out of the box, the PS3 remote takes some work.

If you visit the XBMC boards, you see that there are plenty of people using it on computers both hooked up to televisions and those that aren't. It's available for Linux, Windows, and OSX. There's even a GSOC project for porting it to a Beagleboard platform.

If you can't understand why someone would use it on a comp, then you haven't seen it lately.

Jesus, get a life. Because he showed some ingenuity and problem solving skills you think he's some kind of monster. Where, in your small little mind, do you get to judge him by the actions taken in a high school class of all places. Maybe he saw the futility of the exercise and decided to play the ame better than everybody else. This automatically makes him a bad person? Grow up and perform some self-examination before cutting on people for actually engaging their brain.

Jesus, people like you give stupidity a bad name. He was supposed to get things accomplished, which he did. He operated on "real-world" terms. So what if he didn't play nice and fair, last time I checked most things didn't operate that way.

The teacher is fucking him over because she didn't like his tactics. Flagrantly biased grading like that is even worse than the poster's off-color actions. She was supposed to be teaching principles of economics and government, not giving them an ethics lecture. The poster was being thoughtful in planning, and creative in execution, both of which were not deserving of a D.

Had the teaching prefaced both excercises with a warning that those who didn't play nice would not fare well, then the grade is justified. Simply not liking the poster's technique and punishing him because of it is wrong.

The teacher obviously has her head up her ass, and a big fucking chip on her shoulder.

BTW, your overuse of profanity and inability to spell or type does not give your opinion much credence. Proofreading is your friend.

Cripes people will bitch and moan till the sky falls.

There may be tech assist issues that AT&T will use to support the move. Yes, they can honestly say that it saves them money to have a limited pool of modem types to ease support. In the long run, they're doing this simply because they can. What are the majority of their customers going to do? Yes, that's right, absolutely nothing. The very few might switch providers, if possible, or drop the service (unlikely). Most will quietly, if begrudginly, stay with the service and pay the extra $.

AT&T as well as all the other broadband providers have us by the short and curlies. They can pretty much change their agreements at will and ad infinitum without fear of retribution because of the monopoly powers they hold. Don't like it...drop it.

Either look into class action suits on the basis of consumer protection (which will go absolutely nowhere), or....quit yer bitchen and suck it up.

While that may be true. You can get a progressive scan DVD player that would output to either 480p or 720p. That coupled with the 16:9 screen would certainly open a can o' whoop ass on my standard TV as far as image quality goes.

It may seem insignificant, but when I thought about the cause of the show i.e. our tiny little planet hurtling though the debris of a chunk of ice and dirt, it really made me feel small (but in a good way).

I really recommend trying to catch a view.
