with USQWEST Choice Tv, I get digital cable and 1mbit internet over a pair of copper wire. Three tv hookups (one happens to go to the TV tuner in my desktop pc), 4 IPs (dhcp). Service has been pretty reliable, even for USQwest. (we're talking about the same co who installed UDC on my lines then had 12 service calls in one month)
my $.02:
I had an idea for a cabinet chiller based on the OverClockers water cooled CPUs.
I'm in the process of acquiring a standard run-of-the-mill water cooler from an old office, (standard 5 gal water bottle type) a 110v pump, and an aircraft style plate oil cooler from the local NAPA. And a window mount fan unit
the concept being I will use the cooler to chill the water cooler (slightly modified, no 5 gal bottle, just teh resevoir filled with water), pump it through the oil cooler. The fans will blow cool air across teh radiator into the cabinet allowing the rack cases to suck in the cool air.
My calculations show a water cooler is rated at 1.5a vs the room AC at 5.9a. running the cooler/fan/pump will be roughly equivelent of 200w worth of light bulbs. A room AC alone is 625w.
I realize this will not cool as efficently as a room AC, but will help in greatly reducing the ambiant temperature in the cabinet, and should help my Electric bill from having to run the central AC.

FWIW, I hung a Color Quickcam2 off a 200mm slr lens. several companies make eyepiece adapters for lenses, sell for about $25 used. Pretty neat, but I didn't have anything to point it at.
And the blue lighting is awesome at night.
I have to disagree with that. I disabled the blue on the edges of my player because it was anoying me at night.
Now if I could just get rid of the blinking when the volume is changed....
someone please tell me:
How long has IBM been using this Partition ID?
Now, how long has FreeBSD been in business and a viable alternative on a laptop.?
I bet you find IBM has been using that partition ID since the beginning of the Thinkpad line, back in the dos/win days. How do you expect them to be totally future-compatible with every OS and software package released?
So by asking for the absurd they are sure to get at least some of the restrictions they want and can build from there.
As foolish as this may sound, I've proposed many networks and server configurations this way. Propose to them absolutely overkill, with the thought that they won't accept it. We 'Bargain' down to a reasonable configuration (the one I had in mind all along). It's amazing how PHB's snap up an idea when they think it's theirs.:)
Why not consider Novell's Groupwise. Cost for product are about the same, it's widely scaleable, and has all the features (minus the problems) of Exchange
As an added bonus, Outlook is supported as a client. Webmail is available, Palm PDA's can be synched with Adress book and calendar with Puma's software.
you can also forward mail from the same domain to other non-groupwise servers, for legacy system support.

actually, I kinda like the idea, as long as it's an option I can turn off.... Think about it, they can tell me the specials in the restaraunts as I walk by them.

There's a radio ad that talks about
"The exploding spa and resort industry"
Gee, I didn't know there was such demand for exploding spas. Maybe I got into the wrong line of work.
I wonder what the tower would think if I wished them a "happy mayday" ?
Heck, I wouldn't use a good board in a non working prototype.

If it was me, I'd start by checking your local telco for xDSL/IDSN/PVC offerings.
