The problem with this is that the impartiality which was at one time offered by the Internet - the fact that anyone, anywhere, regardless of power, influence or capital backing, could set up a website - is rapidly being eroded. The abomniable RIP Bill in the UK does require ISPs to keep that kind of information for a relatively long period of time.
