I'm not sure what is going on with these other guys. I am running a Win2k Server box at home (no flames please) on cable modem (normally 40 up and 300 down) at 800x600 and 32bit and from my work (90mb fiber ring connected to our 10/100 switch) I get great speeds over VNC. I do use the 8bit pixel restrictions to speed it up even more.
Over the local 10/100 at home there is no lag at all.
Although the title did say "techie prima donnas" so I am not sure if they were referring to net eng's, etc.
But as far as coding goes, you are absolutely correct. Much more efficent to have 3 coders on 3 different projects at the same time then have the same 3 coders work together on each project in sequence.
And even more than just the developmental flow, coding styles come into play. Trying to follow code from a visual (caps, lowercase, etc) style and a flow style can sometimes be more daunting that just rewriting.
I don't think they are offering such hot deals. I believe we got our 1U Dell boxes for about the same price as their "going out of server selling" sale. I was considering picking up on of their boxes but when I considered a) that they weren't offering any great deal andb) who's going to give me support when the thing blows up... I think I will just go with a Dell box.
I returned the "software" (read: Ford Explorer) for a better version (read: Audi TT). Seems that the first piece of software had the bug that would cause it to unexpectidly blow up your system.
Just because I didn't got to a "conventional" university doesn't mean I don't work for my money. I work harder than most people I know, longer hours with more advanced problem solving. Furthermore, I didn't have to pay to get a piece of paper that says someone taught me something.. I taught myself. Why in the min 90's was there such a shortage of workers in the tech field? Because school weren't teaching any up to date material on the subject and not everyone is a wiz at this stuff.
I'd want to build a system that I can place discreetly amongst my other household wall-hangings. This system will be specialized with a 128-bit sound card and special serial port connection that will run from the system to the front door. At the front door there will be a functional, yet stylish button. When user..err I mean guests press the button the computer will detect that and will play a single, hardcoded sound out of the 23 piece surround sound system that is connected to it.
In later versions I plan to add options for different buttons.. some might be light for easier pushing at night.
Specs:
486-DX 66MHz
8Mb Non-EDO Ram (8 - 1Mb)
640Kb 16bit Video Card
Old Compaq Case
1 Button Mouse
Slashdot.. any help?

What happens when a tree grows in front of the transmitter or a bird sits in front of it?

The cooler you keep anything (that creates heat) inside the case, the longer it will last. That is the whole point.

I vote for spamcop... it just too easy to send some "fresh spam" their way. Then again, I still vote for mercy killings.. bad drivers.. spammers..
