Otherwise it's calling "getting the most for your money" because you paid for it. If you paid for 5Mb/s I promise you that you will never accidentally get 10Mb/s from your ISP, whether you watch Netflix or check your e-mail.
"Blow" a circuit breaker? No see the thing about circuit breakers is they're not like fuses which you used to have to replace. They trip before any of the cables heat up too much (assuming your building is wired to code). If Mr. EV tripped the breaker then there would no longer be any electricity available for him - he'd unplug and call it a day. As for the "problem" it consists of flicking a switch. This is probably less that 5 cents worth of effort on the part of some maintenance guy.

Not dying, just moving towards a much smaller equilibrium point to reflect the size of their niche. Most people realize now that they can get all their computing needs from a phone. Some people will always need the raw computing power, the graphics power, the server ability, etc that only comes with a desktop. Poking around at a clumsy interface with your fingers is ok for occasional tasks, but keyboards and mice are specialized in what they do and so far nothing more efficient has come along to replace them. The same with multiple, big monitors. I have 3 23" monitors on my desk side by side - I love the horizontal real estate. It lets me track several things at once. Until you can give me a phone that I can plug my monitors, keyboard and pointing device to and that has the same speed, RAM and graphics ability I will be staying with desktops. I see no reason to "downgrade".
Even outsourced jobs require a desktop. Just they won't be sold in your first world market. Aaaanyway I don't see the desktop as dying, but I do see it moving into a niche for power users, developers and gamers.
So, bands that have halfway decent music, that produce new material, that go out on tour, and that have a loyal fan-base actually MAKE money long term compared to bands that perform artificial commercialized crap that is shoved down teenagers' throats by the likes of Disney et al, who only make money while the commercial spots are running?
The US is the world's largest consumer. Thus it depends on the rest of the world much more than the rest of the world depends on it. In fact, some even consider the fat, wasteful, debt ridden US to be a burden on the world...
It's not a privilege it's a damned contract. You pay money to a company that offers a service. The company offers the service. You abide by the rules (not smoking, not being a douche) and they abide by the rules (getting you to your destination within a reasonable time, giving you something if they lose your luggage, etc). A contract is not a privilege, it's an obligation.
I dunno you would think that if you apply for a job that clearly states you must speak fluent mandarin, then perhaps at some point the job includes having to speak mandarin, no? Applying if you don't have the skills is just wasting everyone's time.
