    Price is clearly a major factor, too. Virgin’s 100Mbits/sec service costs £35 a month (when taken with a Virgin phone line), but its cheapest 10Mbits/sec package costs only £13.50 – almost a third of the price. And while BT does indeed match the price of its top-end ADSL and fibre packages, you can get BT’s up to 20Mbits/sec ADSL for as little as £13 (plus line rental), compared to the minimum £28 per month outlay for fibre. When the whole country’s looking after the pennies, people need a pretty good reason to upgrade.

    PC Pro has just discovered that if you increase prices, fewer people will want to pay. They must be on to something.

    If you're impaired, I don't care WHY you're impaired.

    So you would criminalize: talking on the phone while driving, not having both hands on the wheel at all times while driving, excess speed in inappropriate road conditions, talking to your passengers, worrying about problems at work, worrying about personal problems, not being in optimal physical health, blah blah blah blah blah... There are many measures of impairment. Eventually you will end up including the entire population in your jails because "errare humanum est".

    So you advocate tying everyone up in chains to their dining room tables, that way you will be sure that no one will harm you while driving or (whatever other example here). There is no such thing as pre-crime. Deal with the irresponsible people on a case by case basis, and accept that there is no perfect world. Once again: People are doing it ANYWAY, and the world has failed to end.

    You are begging for an extreme case, right? Yeah, it's easier to beat someone about the head with extreme cases. But extreme cases are not the norm.

    While I agree there are people who never should touch alcohol, most people can handle it with no problems. The same thing applies to (insert psychoactive substance here). Restricting everyone just because a few people are irresponsible is ridiculous. Here's a tip: people do it ANYWAY.

The "debt" is in the loss of value of existing currency, and the ensuing loss of confidence in said currency. Happened before. Will happen again.     Actually read government reports much? The largest purchaser of US treasury bonds is the US Federal Reserve. So when you print the money to buy your own bonds, what does that say about your finances, Mr. Mugabe? Of course they are doing it just for people like you, who say "no, everything is fine, LOOK AT THE BONDS!". I'd say rather look at gold, look at the Yen, the Swiss franc and even the Euro which is surprisingly stable despite the alleged shitstorm going on in Europe. Why? Because the US dollar is in the shitter too, and both are losing value simultaneously.

    Seriously though - why should I change? Linux is still a pain in the ass. I have a dual boot machine and last week for some reason my linux partition decided to stop booting. Now it just says [OK]. I really don't care enough to take the time to figure out what went wrong _this time_. Call me when it's a serious OS.
