Nintendo has gotten way too complacent with their Gameboy
I don't know why people say this, I love my Gameboy and actually think the DS won't have the great 2d games the GBA has now. The GBA has its place just like my SNES and N64 that still get use, in addition to the Gamecube.
I think games are going to be the most important aspect of the PSP's success, and they need to be games for the portable market. For example, everyone is talking about the Metal Gear game shown. While I love MG games, I don't think they will translate well to a portable. What happens when you need to turn off the PSP cause its your stop on the subway and your in the middle of a codec cut scene?
The DS games shown seemed to be the perfect type of games for a portable. Nintendo know how to produce a system with games that fit the portable market.
what the December sales for the Gamecube and GBA will be. I had to go to 6 stores where I live to try and find a Gameboy player for my Dad. In each store, the Gamecube and GBA shelves were almost empty, while the XBox and PS2 shelves were fully stocked. I don't know if that is bad ordering or tons of sales, but I suspect Nintendo will be the sales leader in December.
I am a Nintendo fan, but I have to admit that a portable game/movie/music player for around $200 sounds very appealing. When I travel I would only need one gadget on the plane.
Oh and I am so tired of the argument that Nintendo isn't selling as well because the games are for kids. I play a game because it is fun not because I get to shoot a zombie instead of saving a princess.
It would be cool if the next gameboy read gamecube discs, so all my great gc games, which by then would be useless on the next nintendo console, could be put to use.
