I've been reading Herbert's 'Dune' books for years and that's not because I am a slow reader.
Those books are layered so deeply I pick up a few more facets with each reading. To expect a movie with a budget and time limits to equal a well written series of books is asking a bit much.
Both movies fell short but just might entice a few folks to read the books.
