"One can ignore this evidence only at the risk of calling into question one's understanding of science and the scientific method."
Uhm... no. Either develop a repeatable test that results in macro-evolution, or stop pretending that the theory of evolution is the result of the scientific method. It wasn't. It was the result of an untested epiphany of some guy on an island (and that is an *empirical fact*, lets remember), and it absolutely boggles my mind that supposedly scientifically sophisticated individuals don't/won't/can't(?) understand that.
On the otherhand, I think the professor has the right to give recommendations out to whomever he chooses. I mean, if he thinks only women should go to grad school, wouldn't it be within the bounds of his personal freedom to recommend only women? I think it would.
Thanks! Phoenix just replaced mozilla. Ugh... now to type all my passwords in again:)

Pheonix vs Mozilla on Win32 (I prefer mozilla)

Phoenix 0.5 Has Arrived

The reason i prefer mozilla on win32 is quicklaunch. With quicklaunch enabled in my system tray, it launches significantly quicker than even pheonix. If pheonix was quicklaunch enabled (heck, the code's already there, right?), it would be my browser of choice on w32. Until then, I'll stick with the "big mo".
Yeah, going to a church to *learn* to speak in tongues would be completely bogus- it's not learned- It is a gift of the Holy Spirit, but it is very much real (1Corinthians14).
That's a happy thought, and a interesting argument, but death is in fact a physical fact: who's buried in Grant's tomb? Walk around the nearest cemetary if you need further convincing. Make no mistake: you will die. Not only that, but after you die, irrevocibly, you will face judgement.
I can't wait to see the $5 million campaigns where shills and leaners are sent to bars and colleges to complain about how thier new Dell Dimension totally sucks, or their Tivo really bites.
Couldn't get there at the scheduled time, but i and two others showed up at the bar around 11:30- the festivities apparently disbanded long before then... might i suggest a time later than 7:00pm?
Uh.. depends on your definition of "really brilliant". It reminds me of that popular example used for learning string manipulation: "If you're so smart, why aren't you rich like Bill Gates?"
Don't look for what isn't expected to be there and cry foul when you don't find it.
I agree completely! I was talking about the diagram which seems to be indicating that the transition from a multi-limbed crustacean-like ancestor to a six-legged insect can be accounted for by mutations in a Ubx Hox gene. Of course, this transition *IS NOT EXPLAINED* by the article at all, as you correctly point out.
Yeah! Ban creationists from university! Better yet, lets just burn them at the stake, or torture them until they confess the one true way! Hail Darwin, full of grace...
Why are so many evolutionists such extremists about their faith?
I just wanted to provide a link to the graphic used to illustrate what these scientists claim to have discovered.

Do they purport that this genetic switch creates the numerous organs required to allow flight, including a complete set of wings, as well as creating the numerous changes in the brain to allow flight to be controlled? Does it create the numerous changes to the articulation of nearly every visible limb on the illustrated insect's body? If not, isn't this illustration sophism at it's very worst?
Hey slashdotters! Try looking at this article half as critically as you would a press release from Microsoft.

Funny, I've spoken in tongues, and didn't need any computer assistance whatsoever...
Creation threads, eternal life threads (ala cryo), now tongues...
Seriously, Michael: do you want to know that your going to heaven when you die?

Yeah... they can't call anybody... but it still takes pictures!
Great Idea- I second Cafe Momus. That would be perfect!

FYI-
I tried doing an image search for images of "servers" or "server". All was cool until about 100 images in, then it was pretty much all gay porn.
So much for alltheweb...

Personally, I know it was a lot easier to make orcs from elves...
:)
Of course, that was designed by a creator. Elves didn't just evolve into orcs, you know
