They think that their use case (laptop at starbucks) is the one that most people care about. There doesn't seem to be enough developers that work in a data center or other multi-user environment. Well, there might be, but as you said they came from Windows and don't realize how convenient and powerful remote X11 really is.
When copyright terms are again 30 years or less with no exceptions, and the DMCA is completely repealed, I'll be with you, really with you. Until then, I will always choose the option that costs Hollywood the most money. If I think that the media lobby will benefit in any way then "no sale". For me there is no ethical dilemma with regard to copyright, it's black and white.
Can you provide a link to an official CBO statement/paper/whatever stating that health care reform will cost 2 trillion dollars over what we would normally spend? Because I've been under the impression that the CBO considers it a break even or save.
Now, if we want to talk about deductions that is a whole different ball game.
Actually that is the only ball game. So nope, not rhetoric.
Also, what's with this phrase "class warfare" that conservatives seem to think of as a magical trump card in any argument? What the wealthy pay keeps going down while social programs and living wage jobs evaporate, yet "you people" try to frame things as if the working class are waging war on the wealthy (as if it were possible). If anything it's the opposite. The think tanks that programmed your thinking do in fact look ahead to words and labels that might describe their own positions and actions then leverage their massive media influence to point them elsewhere. Case in point, "fascist". This is why all of you use the same words and labels.
The wealthiest people in this country pay less taxes now than at any time this century. Maybe that's the problem.
Supply side economics is the reason for the short fall not the existence of social security or medicare. The people who put such thoughts into your head know this is true. The short fall is intentional, the hoped for result is a mob of fools clamoring for their own demise.
The specialists are not --"UI Expert" is some made up stuff to lend one persons *opinion* an illusion of authority. The truth is people want what they're used to using. Until we're using something other than a keyboard/mouse/monitor these UI busybodies need to be in "bugfix only" mode.
The stereotypical "newb" that these UI experts say they are designing for are out buying Dells and Apples, not installing gnome or kde.
The real users of the linux desktop are actually smart people that use that environment for *work*. e.g. kernel developers.

C) Work to privatize social security, but those who've paid in need to get the money that was taken from them by force and promised to them. If the government wants to run social security, make it a voluntary program.
No way in hell will that happen and only a fool or a thief would want that to happen. All you'll end up with is an entire generation living "on the streets" and a handful of super-enriched bankers. It was a disaster for Brazil and it would be one for us too.
Not to mention the fact that social security is what opened the door to taxing wages on labor. It is the definition of evil to take that step and then a few generations laters say "well, we're not going to deliver on our promise of a pension but we're still going to take 30% of your check every week." Don't want Social Security? Then figure out a way to run the government without taxing wages.

At first you could still use konqueror as a file manager but then they "fixed" it so that konqueror just uses the same kpart as dolphin. And it sucks. Doesn't refresh half the time and when it does it flashes your focus back to the top. Konqeror didn't do that and I loved it.
Konqueror has always sucked as a dedicated web browser though. I've always wondered why they killed the best file browser ever made in favor of the worst web browser ever made
Whatever man. I don't talk to people like that -on or offline. You are not Mister Badass in real life but you talk like that on online. It's childish, and I am DEAD FUCKING CERTAIN that you don't talk like that to people when you are facing them. Child.
Liar. The user space facing name is the conflict and that there would be a conflict was known before it was chosen. Therefore it was intentional.
Also, the way you speak to people online needs to change -unless you really are 14 years old. You wouldn't make your ditch comment to me in person (without my hand print on your cheek as a thank you) so don't do it online either.
I (I'm sure a lot of people) have considered this too, but I didn't see a way to outlaw political parties without outlawing the right to assemble, free speech, etc. Do you have any ideas?
Would you call the progressive tax policies in place from the 30's through the seventies looting? Or are you saying there's a viable political force in the U.S. that advocates literal looting? Just asking, because I think the average American was doing pretty good until we started making the wage earners pay for *everything*.
Also, Bastiat would clearly be against all the tax breaks and subsidies reserved for the wealthy. I don't think conservatives would like him.
Great, someone who knows something about economics! While you're here, please explain how the supply-side economics policies of every administration elected since Reagan have improved the standard of living for the average American. I'm particularly interested in the growth of Real Wages.
*NO ONE* used the word as if giga were an SI prefix except drive makers. So no, it isn't and wasn't a fucking SI prefix. That's just the pretext that was used to redefine a gigabyte.
Uh, fuck you AC
I said *fedora* . And I meant *fedora*. Don't come into my conversation an try to bring the whole world into what applies to two jerks at fedora with more influence than they should have.
Also, I didn't say anyones code sucks. I said the man has bad ideas. Now go take your medication.
He can't open his mouth without sounding like an arrogant punk. All of his ideas are bad ideas. I'm really really tired of these people (the turks at fedora) forcing their incredibly narrow use case down everyone's throat. If I wanted to use only a laptop and have it look and act just like a MAC then I'd go buy a god damn MAC. I just have my fingers crossed that systemd doesn't spread like the algae bloom that pulse audio is/was.
I had it almost all the way loaded and then firefox decided to delete everything and show me a blank "the connection timed out" page instead. Brilliant.
I assert the minimum wage is the target of ideologues and not a real factor in the economy, nor a factor in how many jobs there are. It is there to prevent a life akin to slavery, not to artificially inflate wages.
I did explain in my original reply, clearly I think. But you have replied with (another) list of premises which I reject.
Regardless of how logical your arguments are, if your initial premise is false then nothing else you say can matter.
My premise is (to really really spell it out):
1)If an employer has an open position to fill then he is filling one position.
2)In the vast majority of cases the amount of the minimum wage is not a factor, because the job will pay more anyway.
3)If (2) is demonstrably false, then I argue that the minimum wage should be subject to re-evaluation but must not be eliminated because if that is done a some employers will surely make virtual slaves of some disadvantaged laborers.
In my reply I forgot to mention that in this context only a fool would accept an anecdote as evidence of anything. Analogies and anecdotes (no matter how true the story) have their place but not here. They are the tools of propaganda peddlers and even "commoners" such as ourselves should be above them.
Network transparency is an all or nothing scenario. Right now, *ALL* applications are network transparent because X is.
The response from from Wayland supporters is that applications will be "free" to build support for network transparency into the application.
UNACCEPTABLE. Every window of every application just like X does now, or it might as well not exist.
What? yes, updates are forced on everyone, eventually.

Whenever there's a good show it's almost you can bet money it will be canceled by the end of season 1 (or the first half of season 1).
I hit reply when I meant to hit preview.
While 2.2% of all hourly workers earn minimum wage or less, just 1.4% of workers over the age of 25 are paid at or below the Federal minimum wage. http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/2007/10/09/who-earns-the-minimum-wage/
