  1. Re:Content vs Media on WWW Inventor On Microsoft's Browser Tricks · · Score: 1

True indeed, and lets think about those standats... BLINK / MARQUEE tags. But its definatly not about the looks for MS its about using their "technology" (monopoly) but i don't want to repeat everything in my post on this.

  2. Just hurting itself on WWW Inventor On Microsoft's Browser Tricks · · Score: 1

Microsoft is just hurting itself, its as if MS wanted to make themself viewed as "the evil empire" and cutting off people from going to their site. Think about it this way, MS wants more users of IE, and its supporting their "passport" system. How do you get that passport, sites like MSN or Hotmail. See the connection? The monopoly isn't that ovious but its there. With XP out be prepared to see more of the same in the future (new XP only file types, ect).

Is the power down function built into the chip itself or into the mobo? The AMD video was reasuring after seeing the video from toms hardware a few weeks ago, but not as fun to watch :P.

I hope your not as dumb as you sound. I hate to start a flame war but jesus chirst. If you want to know something about "hackers" and the net i sugest you read some of the jargon file [ http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/jargon/html/The-Jargon- Lexicon-framed.html ]

First of all if it weren't for us "hacker shits" you wouldn't have the net as you know it now, Second off, do you even know what a DoS is? And whats up with the hung and shot. But please don't put us in the same group as Bin Ladin, Nato, and the countless other killers around the world.

  6. Should we do it? on Hackers: Uncle Sam Wants You! · · Score: 1

Should we help the government? Sure last week they wanted to call us terrorists but if we help them maybe it will inform the public who we really are. Lets use this chance to get rid of the rep that the media has made for us.

  7. Napster was doomed from the start on Napster Clawing Back · · Score: 2, Insightful

People used napster because it was free, now with gnut becoming more stable we don't need it anymore. It was a fresh idea but it wasn't meant to last. We all know that violated the "artist's" copyright (and "stealing" the 12 cents they get per album) is illegal, with napster the riaa has someone to target and you saw what happened. Now with NSA backdoors, hacking being considered terrorism, and what have you its more important then ever to develope more reliable p2p technologies. Make it harder for the government to stop these things. Can't we go back to the days before napster when we traded mp3s with people with people we meet over mirc?

  8. What did we do? on Hackers are 'Terrorists' Under Ashcroft's New Act · · Score: 1

Where does he get off putting us in the same group as these bastards? Its one thing to something for your own knowledge that does doesn't hurt anyone (and whats his idea of "hacking" anyway") and something completly different to kill hunderds of inocent people. Personally if it wasn't for hackers the internet wouldn't be as widespread as it is today. Its scary how much the masses are under-educated and will believe anyone that says that hackers can get "inside your computer" (what would they take) and then support backdoors in windows that alow the NSA to have taps on you if they want (now what if someone stumbled upon that?) Personally i would like to know how the US plans to impose laws on the net. Is the US government going to send troops into say Switzerland if they find out someones been stealing the super secret Tang recipe from nasa.gov? What can we do to stop BS like this from becoming a law?

I can see this being big for about two or three months and then fading out (all your base ring a bell). Its still a pretty cool concept and would be hella cool if wearable 'puters and virtual reality glasses were more comman place (and there was an app like this for them ofcourse.)

  12. How did it get this far? on The Joys of School And "Website Protection" · · Score: 1

When i look at this topic i don't think its the schools sysadmins to blame or atleast not the ones at my school. Its more of less the few teachers and/or principles that saw hackers, read about the dark and evil world of mp3s, or think that they know exactly what a virus is. True there are some script kiddies out there that will go around the computer lab saying how 31337 they are and how they could take down this network but can they really? If anyone had the skillz to take the network down, why? First of they couldn't brag about it and second they couln't use the lab for the time the network was down. I think what the real problem is that we run windows.. the problem with windows is, A. it hangs up to much and B. there are to many shitty programs made to piss people of.. and crowd the already small hard drives. Yes there are alot of programs out there for linux but how many of these wankas will know hows to install them? Plus it would be a good idea to expose these kids to a multi os world like they're going to see when they get a job. Ofcourse some of the laws of this act are way to crazy to even consider a sollution to. im just saying what i think would honestly make the school networks more reliable.. and educational - lowtekneq
