  1. More like 'sick sense' on Study Points to Sixth Sense in Humans · · Score: 0

As a lot of people have said here this does not really sound like a 'sixth sense'. That usually implies some sort of paranormal ability.

I would have to agree. Instead I would call this a 'sick sense'. You get an uncomfortable almost sick feeling when you know something is wrong, but consciously you cannot always understand why.

A gut feeling is another phrase I would use.

  2. Not much to this.. except better coverage on GSM Standard for WiFi and Bluetooth Compatibility · · Score: 0

From what I can see this is just an alternative access technology (method). It will allow organizations other than telcos to provide their own access infastructure to improve mobile access where they want it. You still need to have an account with a Telco and imagine some gateway agreement to allow the UMA network controller access to the said telcos network.

One would hope the carriers would develop some standard agreements as well. This coupled with finacial incentives and VPN could encourage companies to move away from fixed phones and start to rely completely on mobiles. VPN (Telecoms VPN but same idea as datacoms) technology allows telcos to offer full PABX style functions over mobile networks with ease. So I can see this being good for the carriers and companies who can afford to implement it.

But not really that big a deal to the rest of us at least.

No shit sherlock, but have you considered that we (humans) are a little inexperienced when it comes to taking over natures role. You state that we as a sentient species should be able to shape systems to suit our selves. You also state (quite rightly) that our actions within this great ecosystem carry great consequenses. Yes our actions are as real as the actions of a lion. However, does a lion have the same power over the worlds ecosystems, does a lion have our intelligence to consider such consequences?
Obviously you fail to realise that we have little real understanding of these ecosystems or the impacts our actions have upon these systems. Therefore how can we hope to shape them for the good of humanity.
We must be so extremely careful not to meddle in activities we know little about. It may be a fly but but the message is simple. Can we be sure of its significance in the african ecosystem?
