Slak is not dead. As for standards, (in this case RedHat vs Linux) there are many Microsoft users who would say "Linux is for elitists who just want to be different too". Simply dismissing a functional program/distro/OS (read ash/bourne/bash) because of its interpeted developmental status while it gets the job done effectivle is foolhardy. As for the RedHat argument I have the following to say: It is just as secure as Microsoft Products, its great im sure.. as long as you keep updating it. Show me a list of exploits for Slackware vs a list of exploitws for RedHat. Now take into account all the beginners getting into Linux because of RedHat under the pretense that Linux is a more secure system. And you have a lot prople who have a false sense of security and a clean unpatched RedHat install. Slak is not without its bugs, no system is. But I feel safe saying that it's default settings are indeed much safer. Different strokes for different folks. I think that small dismissive "Slak is dead, who cares" attitudes are the reason people stay with M$ (consider why Scottland had so much trouble with England back in the day... they couldnt work together) Dont get me wrong, RedHat is great in that its getting Linux out there, and known about, and thats what needs to be done... But IMHO its becoming another Bloated, M$-like, security holed system. My 2 cents. (or was that a dime?) :FMT

in fact, it is quite old, superconducting has been around for quite a while. I did many research projects on the meisner effect (http://www.google.com/search?q=meisner+effect&btn G=Google+Search) in my spare time, in HS and middle school. Check the link above for more info if youre interested (its just a google search). Indeed, the real breakthrough would be a materialthat superconducted at higher than room temperature. When I was doing my own research, the hottest they could superconduct was at the temperature of liquid nitrogen ($12/gal. at Roberts Oxygen) and the metal was a yiddium-*something ive forgotten* compound*.....
