Dear God! Just as I will be winding down, trying to enjoy my canned Ensure and watching the next gen of talk shows espousing the evils of teen pregnancy, I'll have to contend with global overcrowding and starvation. My/. karma isn't bad but my universal karma must really be in the toilet. GEEZ!!!
Well, that's the problem with our big brains: they trick us into needing to do/have something really clever to validate our intelligence.
Then we have status symbols which come back to bite us. Who said that we had to have leather chairs to be important? I use a cloth-upholstered chair and can code away for hours while avoiding the dreaded sweaty-ass.
Maybe we should reevaluate what our furniture priorities are.
In the 1920's a Russian inventor by the name of Lev (or Leo) Theremin created a device like this that made sounds as a dancer moved in the 3d field. It's name was 'Terpisichore' after the Muse. The original was powered by fluxes in a radio field.
PS - Theremin also created the musical instrument that bears his name (from Clara Barlow, 1940's horror films, the chorus of 'Good Vibrations' by the Beach Boys, etc). He also used to manufacture audio bugs for the KGB and GRU.
