You could just use ClamWin on the Windows computers. I put it on all my Windows machines (2) and all my clients machines. You'll notice an incredible speed boost, because Symantec and McAfee tend to be resource hogs, and you can set it up to email you if it gets infected. You can also set it up to run regularly scheduled scans. It's really a beautiful piece of software, and the cost is FREE!
I had an instructor at the college I graduated from who tried to put a damper on us Security students by telling us that the Security industry was on a dying road. He claimed that as computers become more and more secure, and people begin to be security-aware, that their will be less and less of a need for Security professionals. I'm not sure I would totally agree with him, but he did have a valid point.
Maybe people don't help drug research or any other causes because they often times have the money to conduct the research. Helping find a drug, for example, to cure a disease doesn't reap any recognition for an indivdual person, but rather the drug company, for example. Ah! But find an alien in outer space and be able to communicate with it - the individual making the discovery with SETI will be recognized at a personal level. Personal gain always wins over collaborative gain. The human race is greedy by nature.
...adding a fiber adapter to motherboards as standard? With the limitations that wire has, is a fiber connection directly on your motherboard, or as a cheap alternative add-on card, that far off?
Verizon already offers Fiber To The Home in some markets. Imagine a direct fiber connection to your PC.
Apple is the only one who will do it right.

The only ones who will do this right is, ironically, Apple. Next week, they will realease their iTunes service for Windows and they will take over just like they did with the Mac.
Think about it. Of all these "pay-for" music distribution channels, only Apple has really succeeded.
The MPAA and the RIAA keep blaming the people who are downloading this stuff, yet they never look at how this stuff gets out there in the first place.
Where can a high-quality version of this movie or any other movie come from than from the people who work with it in their own studios? That's where they need to concentrate their efforts if you ask me.
If it is available to download, then people are going to download it, including myself. But how did it get out there?
And let's say I get scanned at an ATM or bank or airport - wherever! And then let's say that I decide I want to get Lasik surgery to "improve" my vision.
How will the Lasik surgery effect my retina scans? Is the ATM going to think, I am another person?
If I were you, I'd try taking a look at www.mandrakebizcases.com and see how other shops have done it. There are many examples of businesses making the switch.
Imagine if you will that you chip your kid, and they will not divulge their whereabouts because they ran away and do not want to be contacted by you!
