While I'm sure it would make it easier for governments to find security flaws, I don't think that goverments will see any benefit in hiring teams of people to hunt for bugs to save MS a few bucks.
Speaking of which, I've noticed lately that occasionally slashdot loads with the content merged into the left sidebar. I think it's probably a bug in firefox, though.
I think ISP's should take more responsability for their users.
Obviously the spammers, and DoSers have an ISP, and if their ISP were punished by upstream providers for allowing their network to emit this kind of crap, by blocking them until the problems are solved, maybe they'd use some initiative to solve these problems.
I do understand that most DoSers are not the fault of the user, but surely the ISP could notify the user, and force them to do something about it.
I can see your point, and hereditary does seem a more fitting description, however viral still seems valid, as I'm sure you're aware virus's generally have a specific group of entity's that they affect, and don't affect unrelated entity's.
eg. A virus for Windows generally does not infect Linux binaries. And a virus that affects a human doesn't generally affect trees.
Illegal immigrants are not refugees. Australia has a set number of refugees it allows in every year, and these people are cheating the system.
It was important for them to be shipped to other countries instead of Australia because, once they make it to Australia, they are able to make use of our legal system to stall their deportation, when found not to be legitimate refugess.
You make it sound like Australia is still repressing the Aboriginals. This is simply not true. Aboriginals infact are entitled to more government funded assistance than white Australians these days.
We are not proud of our past, however I'm certain that nor are you of your country's past with slaves, but to suggest that we apologise for something that our ancestors have done is absurd.

Redhat have crossed the line this time, putting a kernel into their distribution! I'm boycotting them, and I encourage you all to join me!
