They snubbed my articles on TV about Band of Brothers and Mr. sissy-punkass-blabbermouth-poopy-pants Jon Katz gets to show off his lack of brains!!! Hey someone at Slashdot start rejecting Mr reporterboy's sh*tty articles....
well, half-life is the biggest game on my HDD, anyway.... over 1 GB, the last time I checked and still growing(Half-Life, OP4, CS, TFC, DoD, The Opera)... so, yeah, _HL_is_BIG_....
I love linux, a lot, but if you have ever tried to do _real_ music work, you will not find anything to suit all of your needs, _yet_. As good as GNU/Linux is getting, it has no good alternatives to good old Cubase, or Logic Audio, or sound forge, or ProTools (hint, hint: I am a Cubase user).
Stick with Macs, at least for now.....
"and if it flops in Japan, it will be a worldwide flop"...
Thats right on the money, bub... In fact, most successful consoles come out in Japan (aka Videogame Mecca) first!
It's great to hear from people making the change to better software...
Open Source software has got such a long way to go, but look at where it has already gone with little or no money to support it...
At my workplace, I have a lot of trouble with clients who think they know what they're doing, but always end up screwing everything. I usually get the blame for everything that happens(I hate this job sometimes), but keeping some logs and some system documentation has saved my butt more than a few times. Luckily for me, my clients have no root access to my Linux systems (or else I'd already be dead), but your case is a very difficult one.
Now, I know you get paid to fix computers, and it _is_ your job to fix this machine in case it breaks, but what about the blame factor?
This "consultant" could very well place the blame on you for anything that happens to the system while he is logged on as root, and this may jeopardize your job...
So keep logs of everything, create some system documentation, backup, get a lawyer, revise your contract... do everything in your reach to protect yourself from a sneaky "consultant"...
It does not surprise me a bit to hear MS has created sites that are incompatible with everything else...
Nice monopolist tactics from the buttholes at Redmond....

This is a goddamned good question!!!
People still using FrontPage? Crap, I thought everyone with a shred of self-respect was using DreamWeaver...
Dont complain about FrontPages licensing issues, just dont use it and dont buy it...
Anyway, anything, under any platform is better than FrontPage (and InterDev is pretty sucky too)...
Stupid Sysadmin+Stupid Law Enforcement+Stupid Software=Brian West+Jail
Where do you want to go today? Certainly not jail...
