An EMP wouldn't work even against a "large massed force." The US government puts in its equipment specifications that all military electronics must survive an EMP pulse from a nuclear blast. Remember, they have been building up military weaponry for 40 years assuming nuclear weapons where going to be used. Assuming the Russians did the same, a given, you now have the world's 2 larges arm makers creating tanks, planes, missiles and what not that can survive an EMP weapon. Remember, the Iraqi's are using US made Stingers and Russian SA7's to shoot down helicopters.
VIGER was the bad guy in the first StarTrek movie. The Voyager probe went out of our solar system was found by a society of machines. They then modified the bah-gee-baas out of it and sent it home to find "the maker".
So end-ith the lesson. (Before you ask, Sean Connery in The Untouchables)
I hear that white light LED's are actually more difficult to make than color LED's. Does anyone know why?

Imagine the impact of cheep light.
City governments spend millions in electricity every year to power streetlights and traffic lights. LED's use significantly less power than sodium vapor and other light tech. The city I live in is already testing some of the traffic lights with LED versions. It's just a matter of time before cost savings starts.
How in the world did he prove that there was no prior art on a discussion group? Isn't a BBS a form of a discussion group? This sure sounds like a retro active patent to well known art. (You can patent something after it has been in general circulation for a year.)
I'd love to see him try to enforce this patent in the courts.

I agree this issue come up a lot. Most of my suppliers either save the file as a locked adobe file, convert it to an image formate (tif, jpg) via a scanner, or just use a digital signature in PGP.
Of course your are forgetting the most anoying thing about being in IT.... "You know some thing about computers, can explain why I can't print this e-mail" I can see the stupid questions pileing up now.

Hey just you wait until it comes back to destroy earth as VGER.
Huh, My bad. I thought that I heard they where better on the lumens/watt than other light devices. Thanks for your insightful reply.
