Don't forget the "goodguys" that geet taken down with them. i.e. Square lost a lot of money they could have spent to make final fantasy XXX better. Did noone mention how cheesy Mortal Kombat I/II's moovies were?
I could be wrong but it just doesn't sound that reliable does it? You've got joe shmo goes walking through this beam...just happens to look into the laser...this is how law suits happen...
Is it more profitable to be the way they are now? It's like the "old MTV" sold their soul and...well, MTV is just poop now. I was watching the 20 year anniversary special and they had some cool shit! Headbangers Ball, The Head, Beavis and Butthead, Liquid TV...and now you can't find anything on MTV that is somewhat chancy for them to put on TV (except for some fat ass on some rap video).
I switched to much music (at least they have somewhat better music) and I'm sure M2 might be better than both MTV and Much but for now I'd guess I'll stick when Anti-Pop videos.
I ask this question as a hypothetical, and while I understand that gnuella is still an option, freenet is still progressing, but if there NEEDS to be a centralized server what is stopping people from getting bandwidth to a country that does not support copyrights and running a United States company to support them, say a napster like company that wouldn't sell out, to be the front to sell advertisements (like that ever works but do you have a better suggestion?).
They couldn't be aiding criminal activity if it's not illegal in their home country right?
I hate to answer a question with a question but do you have a reason for upgradeing, other than it's the latest and greatest thing? Not saying it's not a significant difference between 2.2.13 and 2.2.20...
Secondly have you tried those in between...if this is for fun/experimental I'd try those in between if there IS a reason to upgrade...

Just wait until some RIAA-like organization decides to dig in against a proffessor like felten.
Then you'll see the sparks fly.

It sucks but the sparks should have already flown. Not enough people care to take any action.
I ask myself this often, But everyone's got their own reason they like Linux. The individual has their own purpose for it and it doesn't need to be the same as mine. I know I am pretty happy about haveing compiled everything for my computer (minus the Win32 codecs for MPlayer) and it's very useable to me. But to many others Linux is not their thing. Many others like KDE. This is why there's flavors and customization to Linux.
I look at when I think of Linux I think the Peoples Operating System. If you don't like how it is YOU fix it:) This is why I don't like pre-compiled *'s. Can't fix it.
1. Repartitions a Fat32/NTFS partition
2. Makes a Ext2 partition
3. Installs a Linux distribution on the Ext2 partition.
4. Formats Fat32/NTFS partition
5. Writes the boot sector for the new linux installation
6. Reboots.

2.6.6 will be binary incompatible with the current nvidia drivers. (see the snapshots/mailing list)
Don't count on it working well in the next kernel release, as nvidia's current kernel drivers are incompatible.

Personally, I just add everything to the /etc/hosts...
127.0.0.1 fastmoney.net
The only problem is the error msg keeps popping up saying it couldn't connect to fastmoney.net

Actually it will probably be quite some time before it's completely out of all websites. We'll be doing that waiting for at least another 3 months.
LinuxFromScratch 3.1 was released a day or so ago, and if you're still dealing with dependencies, hate the bloatdistros out there give it a shot.
These last few lines have been released under the GNU FDL...http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

Who knows? it could be the next AC3. Or hell...make your own open codec.
I'm gonna make a worm that...
1. Repartitions a Fat32/NTFS partition
2. Makes a Ext2 partition
3. Installs a Linux distribution on the Ext2 partition.
4. Formats Fat32/NTFS partition
5. Writes the boot sector for the new linux installation

If you want free music w/o the worry of copyrights move to Tailand / Singapore.
