Everyone I know with burners, and that's about two dozen people, doesn't bother making music CDs, except for friends without computers. They all simply rip MP3s like people without burners and store it on their HDs. They sometimes make backups of their entire HDs, but that's not making a music CD.
As for working as a programmer, I don't give a rats ass about my employer's crappy CBTs being copied. If they go under, I'll find a job with someone else, or work as a consultant. Company loyalty is a concept as old and as useless as "duck and cover".
I dunno, seems like Lynx is a pretty decent browser to me. I've only had one crash while using it, and that was when the power went out.
Or if you insist on these bizarre "image" things, give Opera a try. It's on a wide variety of platforms, and doesn't crash your shell if it crashes, like IE does.

Maybe there should be a moderation history, like there is a posting history for each user. You can have anonymous moderation, but people can choose to ignore the anonymous moderations if they want.
Of fucking COURSE our taxes are paying for the CRTC, you dimwit. They're a government agency. And free market economies don't solve *all* problems. I welcome the CRTC's policies on the Internet. They seem to be pretty clued in.

Oh, please. File sharing is hardly in danger. People shared pirated files long before Scour came along. It may become a little less easy, but you'll still get to download all the mp3s you want. The RIAA can rack up as many kills as it damn well pleases. No one is going to be stop file sharing.

Gore doesn't want to police the entertainment industry: As a career politician, he's simply in the pocket of those with money. IE: Hollywood, among others. He just has to say that he's opposed to Hollywood's lack of morals to gain the votes of concerned parents.
In effect, he's not an anti-porn anti-violence anti-free-speech crusader, he's just being a typical lying politician. As much as his insincerity galls me, I'd rather have him than Bush, who seems to sincerely believe in heavy entertainment industry regulation.
Or maybe I'm completely wrong and they're both fascist maniacs. But I'd still rather see Gore in office. At least he's fairly smart and reasonably competent. As for Bush... heh.
It really all boils down to this: Gore is a prick, Bush is a moron. Who who you rather see as President?
Low quality? I am so goddamn sick and tired of clueless morons insisting that they've got super-powerful hearing abilities. Gee, maybe if you encode an mp3 at below 128kbps, it's bad. Some of us can't tell the difference between 160kbps and a CD track, though. Maybe I've just got bad ears. Or maybe you're just a whiner. And I *do* buy CDs, mostly because I find that any music I spend my time listening to is worth paying for.

What, and ruin Mars' pristine ecology? Give me a break. Mars is, for the most part, a dead, dry, desert. We need to change it to suit us, and we have every right to. We won't be harming anything, and we'll be helping ourselves. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
And do you really have any clue as to how far advanced our space techonology is? We can just barely operate the space shuttles! We don't have the experience in studying long-term effects of space on human bodies. Mir was a good start, but we need to find out if people can physically handle multi-year-long missions in microgravity. and low-gravity conditions, and if we can mentally handle confined spaces for the same lengths of time.
Don't be impatient. I want to see us colonizing the solar system as much as you, but we need to take our time and do it right.
>I mean, what are 99% of CD-RW's used for anyway?
Copying video games.

I think I'm going to go kill myself now.
No, wait. I'll kill their VCs, then kill the patent office folks, *then* kill myself. If I'm going out, I might as well smite some evil along the way.
Uh-huh. I hope to god Nascomms doesn't try to patent this.
Alberta? Clean environment? Cheap living expenses? Space? You obviously don't live there, unless it's in a village of less than 1000 people...

Yeah, but only people whose lovers shop at Wanda's Whip Emporium.
Wouldn't that work in *all* bases, as well?
Star Trek reruns being beamed out to the universe won't help stop that reputation much either...

Or maybe Nostradamus was wrong. Give Occam's Razor a try one of these days.
Are the Democrats really considered liberal? They seem rather conservative to me. I'm not American, so I'm kind of baffled by that label.
