google maps, for camping anyone?

So I went camping on the Oregon Coast a few weeks ago, and had a hell of a time finding the right campground.
While out there I had an idea to make my own 'google map hack' for showing campgrounds around the state (there were absolutly no drugs -- mushrooms -- involved in coming up with this idea, I swear ;))

So when I got home, I emailed oregonstateparks and got the info I needed to map out the campgrounds and stateparks all over the state. I want to eventually do this nationwide but haven't had time to work on it.

I used to have a "maps application" look to it, but since the official API came out, I just updated it so it actually worked again. Currently, I'm only showing a random 20 parks out of the 400 or so in the database.

I'd like to separate them out by region (north coast, portland metro, etc...) and also maybe map hiking trails via the polyline object.

I totally agree with your agrument. A friend and I have been searching for a resolution to this for quite a while.

Then the other day, I think he may have found our (temporary) savior.

This module is in development, but looks to be almost *exactly* what we are looking for.
