I understand what they mean.. the interfaces we use today WILL be gone in the future. But using them will give children an understanding of the logic BEHIND using a computer. When I was in school, we had Apple IIe's. I didn't use one at home, and I haven't used one since, but they served to teach me about different systems.
I firmly believe that if someone understands the logic of computers, they won't have the enormous handicap that so many people have today.
Why do you think there are so many that can't program a VCR? They aren't stupid.. they just can't understand what the designer was thinking.
All systems tend to use the same logic though. Mainly because human invent them all. If we give kids the gift of understanding that, they'll be much further ahead in the future.
I have a Qualcomm CM-D600S (One of the First) with Sprint PCS service and I get great quality. The only problem I EVER have is an echo now and then. Kinda like talking over a satellite. But that only happens for seconds every once in a while.
Honestly, I mean no insult, but that's the stupidest reasoning I have ever heard.
Compared to the brain, any computer is an absolute piece of trash. A computer can't handle half of the tasks a normal brain takes care of. Much less can it be truly creative. In fact, I read an article one time (sorry, no link) where a scientist compared the computational power of the best supercomputers to the nervous system of a snail.
You can "upgrade" your brain if you'd like... I'll visit you in the vegetable farm.
One question - He mentions the lack of a 64bit journaling filesystem a couple of times. Even in a quote from "Mad Dog". When will XFS start being mentioned in these articles? I know it's not available yet, but couldn't they mention it?
He just says one is being developed. To some people, that's synonymous with non-existant.
Has there ever been speculation about how we can create ANYthing with negative mass or negative energy? I pretty much understand what they are.. just not how they can be made (even in theory). Wouldn't it require control over what's not there? Am I missing something?
eh.. no offense, but that seems a bit extreme.

Kinda like the Simpsons halloween special where the store mascots turned into monsters...
Ignore them, and they'll die.

Excuse my ignorance, but is there a conceivable limit to the number of nodes you can have on a cluster?
Just how big of a room does it take to house 2600 nodes?
You know...
If this gets put into use by 2001... um.... that's kinda creepy.
Wonderful to hear such groovy reviews...

I read somewhere that this movie was going to be the first distributed in digital format, and that the theatres would need digital projectors...
Anybody know whether that's true? And if it's digital, why are they calling it a film?
How 'bout this one instead...
