I heard there would be many references to Star Wars in Futurama. I didn't believe it until I saw the name of a bar in Fry's home time (1999) called "Akbar." That had me rolling for a few minutes.
I think this is just a Slashdot scam. The URL contains "slashdot" which is probably for clickthrough tracking. For every visitor that checks out this URL Rob gets a couple cents. Well, I guess Slashdot has to make money somehow.

I believe the MAC address is hardcoded on the NIC. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Is there a way to switch the address? I don't know of any way.
